Thank God for Jury Duty

Yeah remember this time last year I made a post about a departure? Hey forget all of that. I’m back!

There’s mixed emotions because I thoroughly enjoyed my first season as a varsity coach and preparing a group of guys for those Friday Night Lights. Signing on and working for Darren Hylander was a blast at Tatum, and I met some funny, country fun loving kids. Things changed for Hylander and he made a decision that was best for himself and his family and to which I advised him to.

Now usually any other time I dread seeing those jury duty notices come in the mail, but this one felt destined. Of all people in the world to be at jury duty with and be stuck talking to for an hour, the Lord provided John King to be stuck with me. I tested the waters about a comeback and it looked far fetched, but look at God😂😂😂.

I’m returning in the same role I left, but with joy and a good dose of optimism about my personal opportunities for growth. As a coach there's some small portions of salt, grooming guys for a championship, but hey no need for that, nobody told me to leave. As alumni, I enjoyed the State Championship as much as the next fan. As a coach, I’m saddling up to run it back.

In the words of my favorite principal, Go Lobos!
