Sometimes You're Wrong:
10. Baker Mayfield
Yo, Baker Mayfield, I don't appreciate how you did my former Lobo Travin Howard and the Frogs this weekend, but then again it's not the first time somebody from Lake Travis has done one of us in. So last week I called out Mayfield on not being as good as it seems. And of course the baker whipped up a glorious ass whipping on the TCU Horned Frogs, a team I thought was legit. After a 598 performance against Oklahoma State, Mayfield put in a flawless performance Saturday going 18/27 for 333 yards and 3 scores and 0 interceptions. With that performance from Oklahoma and a "shaky" performance at Mississippi State for Alabama, the Sooners look to be the best team in the nation, and my favorite to win it all in the playoffs.
9. The U
I so don't want to type these words. I feel like the second I type them out they're going to get smoked against Virginia or Pittsburgh, but eff it. The U IS BACK. Number 2 for the first time in 14 years, Miami went out and beat the dog out of the #3 team in the nation, Notre Dame, 41-8. While there are still major questions to me about their quarterback play, Mark Richt has the Hurricanes playing defense like Johnathon Vilma and Sean Taylor are back in the orange and green. The turnover chain is the shit, and right now Miami's defense is passing that thing around from one neck to the next. Offense wins games, and defense wins championships. Miami has the championship defense, but does the offense have enough to beat Clemson?
It's Never As Bad:
7. Georgia Bulldogs
So yeah, you guys got smoked. Pretty freaking bad against Auburn too. But it's not over for you Bulldogs. Offense didn't show up in your 40-17 shellacking and your defense let Jarrett Stidham look like an NFL quarterback, but there's still hope. A lot of hope at that. Georgia still has two games against Kentucky and Georgia Tech, two teams that they should be able to handle pretty handily over the next two weeks. The saving grace is that they've got a shot at Alabama in the SEC championship game. If they win out they're in the college football playoff and life in Athens will be lit in the bushes again.
6. Lakers - More so Lonzo Ball
It's Never As Good As It Seems:
5. Saquon Barkley
My guy looks like he's in straight protective mode since the lost to Ohio State. And if you omit his 97 yard kickoff return, to be truthful, he hasn't looked as beastly. Against Ohio State he toted for just 44 yards on 21 carries. It's true college backs are not always consistent, but for him to receive 21 carries and gain less than 50 yards is pretty concerning. Against Rutgers, a team way less talented then Ohio State, Barkley rushed for 35 yards on 14 touches. Now he's still an extremely talented dude, but his lack of production is about to cause him a Heisman. He'll be a top 5 pick, he'll be OROY next season, and make Pro Bowls for years to come, but right now, he's not as good as it seems.
4. Playoff Rankings for High School
I hate sounding like I'm making excuses for my teams, I'm not. High school playoffs are the greatest thing about high school sports, but the way the playoffs are set up isn't very fair. Districts are tied together and first round match ups are determined based off the 2nd place versus the 1st place in the districts. That means no matter how good the 2nd place team is they'll play the 1st place team in the first round regardless of record. So in one match up of the bracket you'll have a 9-1 team facing an 8-2 team, but in that same bracket you'll have a 6-4 team facing a 5-5 team. Now those 9-1 and 8-2 teams will have to play each other in order to win the region, but the fact that they're playing that early is kind of ridiculous.
Unless It's That Bad.
3. Dallas Cowboys
Dallas, Dallas, Dallas..... Dallas, Dallas, Dallas.... pick a sport... They both look bad. Let's start with football. Without Sean Lee, Dallas's defense looks really bad. It's like they invited linebackers to seal them off and fit up on them. Sean Lee is really the eraser for the mistakes for the defense. He identifies plays and is literally, always around the ball. Without Ezekiel Elliot and Tyron Smith this will be a long season for the Cowboys offensively. In order for Dallas to have success they'll have to protect Dak and by protecting them they'll have to 1: Block and 2: Run. I've been on record for saying I don't believe Prescott is a top notch talent. He does good things, he's mobile, he fits what Dallas wants to do offensively. But Dak does not throw the ball well down the field. Without a good running game, play action will not be effective. He'll have to force the ball downfield and his connection with Dez down the field hasn't been good these past two years.
2. Dallas Mavericks
The Mavericks are abysmal right now. At 2-12, Dallas is the worst team in the West and it's not going to get better this season. Dirk's my boy, but 41 doesn't need to try to play until 41. The best thing Dallas can do is play Dennis Smith Jr. and Harrison Barnes as much as possible. If they can obtain a big splash in free agency, tied with a top lottery pick in next year's draft, Cuban and the boys will be back.
Unless It's That Good.
1. Love
Congratulations to a lady that was in my wife's bridal party this past spring. Her and her long time boyfriend got married this past weekend and it was a joy to be in their presence Saturday. Love never loses, ever. Hopefully these two have many years of happiness together, and for as much as we prayed Saturday, they'll have plenty of Christ's involvement. (HAHAHA)

He proved me wrong. He's tough. He's what Johnny Manziel would've been had he matured. |

The U is back? I hope, football's better with them. They blasted #3 Notre Dame 41-8. |

Stidham had a really clean game going 16/23 with 3 touchdowns and 0 interceptions against Georgia. |
6. Lakers - More so Lonzo Ball
Last week Bleacher Report went on a spill about how badly Lonzo Ball has been scoring the ball here recently. In the last 5 games he's scored 6, 9, 9, 10, 19. While I agree, those numbers are low for a guy who's averaging 30 minutes a game, you've got to remember the kid is only 20 years old. For many of you Laker fans you consider Kobe to be the GOAT, and that's fair, but it took Kobe until year 3 to average 20 (19.9) a game. The kid is talented, and more importantly, has the attitude and wherewithal to be great. Has he been kinda bad? Yeah, but just like it took awhile for one former Laker to be great, Ball will learn to be just as good. I'm putting it in writing now, Zo will win a championship in a Laker uniform. #ITSSTILLGOMAVSTHO

The young man will need about 2 years of work and experience before he lives up to expectation. |

He's an exceptional talent, but Barkley may have ran out of gas for both a chance at the championship and the Heisman. |

Ass Green, I mean Chaz gave up 4 of Clayborn's 6 sacks Sunday. Maybe he'll have some great turnaround story and be dominate, but ummmm until then. |

Dennis Smith Jr. needs to get healthy and play plenty for Dallas because DJ from 2K18 can't come save him. |
