The Bo Jackson of rap music. Although he only made it to age 24, Biggie killed the rap scene for 3 years from "Juicy" all the way to "Going Back to Cali." Black and ugly as ever, Biggie has managed to stay atop of the Rap conversation as one of the best to ever do it. There's plenty of omissions like "Kick In The Door" and "Ten Crack Commandments," but these are my favorite ten songs .
10. Who Shot Ya (1994)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7yQwQtSN7M
The song that started the East vs. West beef. The Bad Boy company swore up and down that they had nothing to do with Pac getting shot, but ironically this song dropped after Pac was robbed in New York. Nonetheless, the song is great, and is easy #Top5 Beef Rap songs.
9. "Tonight" (1997)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziQkBYd19SI
I'm grown and married. Enough Said.
8. Going Back To Cali (1996)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_B0rOLvAOo
Biggie shows his flexibility, killing this West Coast type beat. From first listen it sounds like something his counterpart 2Pac would jump on, but Biggie does not disappoint on this track.
7. Dead Wrong (1999)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44bV8td2Wew
RELAX AND TAKE NOTES! One of the best freestyle instrumentals ever and a young Eminem absolutely lets it fly on this song.
6. Mo' Money Mo' Problems (1997)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUhRKVIjJtw
One of the most famous songs from the Notorious, but it sits at just 7 because Ma$e had the best verse to me. Ma$e kicks the song off with one of the best introductory verses ever and Biggie hit the home run to wrap the song up.
5. Flava In Ya Ear (Remix) (1994)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMbELEUfmIA
"I ain't from Houston but I Rap-A-Lot."
4. "Get Money" (1995)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etMpCz8eql8
"Damn, why you wanna stick me for my paper?" One of the best instrumentals and songs of Biggie's career. The song is accredited to Junior Mafia, but this is Biggie's song. Smoothest flow ever, this is the prototypical Notorious B.I.G. song.
3. One More Chance (1994)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ogs_NsXh58
"Lyrically, I..." one of the coldest verses from Biggie ever. I didn't realize how much I remember this song until I heard it again. The best thing about this song of course is the instrumental which was covered by Ashanti.
2. Hypnotize (1997)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glEiPXAYE-U
This song got a lot of play for being on the preview of Baywatch, but this is the perfect party song. The beat is up tempo, the song is loud, and Biggie kills. Not a lot that needs to be said about the upper echelon Notorious songs. Just listen.
1. Big Poppa (1996)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phaJXp_zMYM
A smooth flow over a slow banging instrumental. Biggie knew his limitations as a big dude with a thick tongue, so typically he didn't try to rap too fast. This song is my favorite song from Notorious B.I.G. "Why? Cuz I see some ladies tonight that should be having my baby, baby."
