As I was playing Madden 19 for the first time about 3 weeks ago, one of the first things I always do is look up some of the players I’ve played against to see if they’re still in the league. The list is down to about 4 now, but one name still haunts me: Garrett Gilbert. The best high school QB I’ve ever seen, GG torched us my Sophomore year in the title game. He’s inspired a couple of future post of mine, but definitely this one. Here’s a list of the best players I’ve ever faced.

Offense

| Hubert ran for 244 yards on us the night Aaron made that great stretch towards the goal line. |
Reserve: Khody Sutton - Andy Erickson Lake Travis, Rice or Texas High, Wyoming

| This bowling ball gave our defense fits at T-High. |
WR: Trey Metoyer - Whitehouse - Oklahoma

OL: Paden Kelly - Austin Lake Travis - Texas

OL: Marcus Hutchins - DeSoto - Texas

| Didn't do much at the next level, but for JT he was a force. |
DT: Jamarcus MacFarland - Lufkin - Oklahoma - San Diego Chargers

| Nation's number 1 DT came through Longview and made impact. Got a chance to level him on one of Aaron's big runs that game. |
DT: Taylor Bible - Denton Guyer - Texas

| The Nation's number one DT his Sr. year. Explosive at 280 pounds. Career record 2-0. |
DT: Beau Blackshire - Waco Midway - Baylor

| Terrorized centers as a nose guard at Waco Midway. I will say that we handled him pretty well. |
LB: Anthony Miller - Dallas Carter
 |
| Don't let the perm fool you. The starter at RB and ILB for Carter in 2008 was a monster. |
LB: Eric White - South Garland - no picture available, but White was a standout in 2010 for SG. He was committed to Texas Tech at the time, but never got there.
LB: Kyle Boyd - Mesquite Horn - Baylor

| Currently a fullback for Baylor, Boyd graduated hs in 2011. He enrolled with the Marines and served for 5 years before he started his career. Much respect on the field for his play, but even more respect for serving our country. Salute. |
DB: Devante Harris - Mesquite Horn - Texas A&M - New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

| Overshadowed by more perimeter talent in his early years, Harris was lockdown in 2011 and was great for the Aggies in college. |
DB: Jacorey Shepherd - Mesquite Horn - Kansas - Philadelphia Eagles

| Played WR at Mesquite Horn but went on to play corner at Kansas and even got drafted by Philadelphia. |
DB: Ahmad Dixon - Waco Midway - Baylor - Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears
 |
| The best defensive player I've ever faced. Wore 7 at Waco Midway and one of the few defenders who struck fear in some of our players. Won't mention who, but everyone on our team wasn't willing to meet up with Dixon. |
DB: Carrington Byndum - Lufkin - Texas - Carolina Panthers

| Was a free safety at Lufkin, went on to be a 3 year starter at Texas. |
DB: Josh Aubrey - Tyler Lee - SFA - Cleveland Browns, Tennessee Titans

| First concussion I ever got came from this guy. I was standing around a pile and he came down hill and scccchhhhmakkked me. I saw Tweedy Bird, Stars, Stripes, hell the whole flag. The next play I literally just snapped the ball and cut the guy next to me. Don't know if it was the right thing to do, but sheeesh! |
