10 Best Radio Releases of 2018

The end of the year is approaching and there have been many performances in many different realms of the culture. During this 5 part series I'll break down who and what I think was the best athlete, best game, top songs, top albums and top music artists of the year. 2018 was a blast, one of the best years for the culture, let's find out what/who was the best.

10. "Trip"- Ella Mai
The Debut Album: Ella Mai

Ella Mai dominated female R&B, mainly because she had no competition, (STOP RAPPING BEYONCE)  but not to a fault. She produced two really great songs for the radio this year. Of course we all know about Boo'd Up, which is appropriately on this list, but when she backdoored with Trip she solidified her place as a great of 2018. Trip is catchy, has an excellent beat and her vocal performances stands out as one of the best of 2018.

9. "Taste" - Tyga feat. Offset
Tyga feat. Offset

Ever since he released "Rack City," Tyga has been looking for his next big hit. After the L he took from Drake, Tyga was more the butt of every pop culture, underage joke. But, From the first drop of the beat you're hooked. Tyga's hit or miss, but this one still moves the scene. The beat's just too catchy, and with the "yadadadameaann" Tyga ensured his self of a hit. Can't forget about Offset's "4 A A A Ferrari."

8. Finesse Remix - Bruno Mars feat. Cardi B
This remix took a good song to a great one!

"Drop top Porsche, rollie on my wrist diamonds up and down my chain!" Cardi B kinda owned 2018 and the Finesse Remix is just further proof of her dominance. Finesse was a good song that was on Bruno's 24k album in the fall on 2017, but received a resurgence when Cardi placed her verse and bridge on it.

7. King's Dead - Jay Rock feat. Future and Kendrick Lamar and James Blake
Redemption

Great songs typically have lines that stick out in your mind. They're catchy and they make a place come alive. The same goes for "King's Dead" when Kendrick Lamar let's everyone know you can miss him with that bullshit! The catch saying match with the great beat made for a huge summer jam off of two of this year's better albums: Black Panther Soundtrack and Redemption.

6. Mo Bamba - Sheck Wes
Sheck Wes
If you're a fan of lyrical content this isn't the song. I didn't want to like this song. I sort of didn't have a choice. I've never heard someone scream BIYTCH as hard as Sheck Wes. It's a no doubt party song, best to listen to around crowds. and it's a great pregame song.

5. In My Feelings - Drake
Scorpion

Trap. Trap Money Benny. Shout to Shiggy for the dance craze, shout out to Drizzy for being so catchy. From the jump this song is just too catchy to hate on. And I wanted to hate on it, but I can't. Do work Drizzy.

4. Boo'd Up
Ella Mai

Ella Mai dominated the spring, summer and fall with her hit Boo'd up. It was the best R&B song this year without question. Anytime a song takes the trip of good to great to annoying to great again, it's a bonafide hit. From the lyrics to the DJ Mustard beat, Ella Mai won R&B this year. Feelings... so deep in my feelings..........

3. God's Plan
Scorpion
3. God's Plan

I didn't like it at first, but the message and the beat are just undeniable. God's Plan dominated from February all the way into the fall, and one of the few songs in 2018 where the video for the song uplifts the song even more.

2. I Like It - Cardi B feat. Bad Bunny and J Balvin
Cardi B

Undeniable is a strong word, but that's how you can describe the best of 2018. As soon as Pete's Rodriguez met an 808, I knew she had a hit. I called my sister immediately as the beat started. Cardi's sound is just perfect for this song. The uptempo ratchet mixed with the Mexican horns in the background are just magnificent. On top of that, Youtube chose "I Like It" for it's song for the NBA Finals this year. Bad Bunny and J Balvin do more than hold their own even though their speaking Spanish. Very impressive Cardi. Good Job.

1. Sicko Mode - Travis Scott feat. Drake
Winner. Winner. Chicken Dinner.

Number one better be hard if it's going to top "I Like It." It'll take something just as unique and the biggest star in the game. Travis Scott heard you and countered. As far as unique, Sicko Mode goes through two different beat changes and they're both hard. Biggest star in the game? Not only does Scott invite Drake, but Drake offers his best verse of 2018. Sicko Mode could've been on Scorpion for as hard as Drake put in on it. Drake was featured on a number of albums during 2018, but for him to wreck it as hard as he did shows how much he felt the song. Travis Scott's verse isn't something to sleep on either. What a year. What a song.
