Top 100 Albums of the Decade

Apart of the Top 100 series I'm marking what think are the best 100 albums of this decade. From 2010 to 2019, I've listened to tons of albums, and here, I'm marking the best 100 I heard this past decade.

100. So Much Fun

Artist: Young Thug
Best Tracks: Hot, Bad Bad, Boy Back, The London

Trying not to be a victim of the moment, Thug's latest album comes in at 100. He kind of lost me with Beautiful Thugger Girls, but So Much Fun, was just that; so much fun.

99. Dreams Worth More Than Money
Artist: Meek Mill
Best Tracks: Lord Knows, Jump Out the Face, All Eyes On You, R.I.C.O

Meek's sophomore project has plenty of hits. It was an interesting time for Meek; shortly after releasing the album, he made the claim that Drake doesn't even write his own lyrics. This beef definitely overshadowed the album, nonetheless this was a strong project.

98. Big Fish Theory
Artist: Vince Staples
Best Tracks: 745, Party People

Vince is a California guy and has no problems letting you know about it. He's different from most mainstream artists, but even with that peculiarity he put together a great album.

97. My Krazy Life
Artist: YG
Best Tracks: Left, Right, My Nigga, Who Do You Love?

YG repped hard for the set with the K in crazy, and went harder for California with the album My Krazy Life. It starts off with energy with I Just Wanna Party, and Left, Right. The highlight of the album is Who Do You Love? and Drake.

96. Luv is Rage 2
Artist: Lil Uzi Vert
Best Tracks: Neon Guts, The Way Life Goes, XO TOUR Lif3

This weirdo. I didn't really want to listen to the album based off his looks, but "I don't care if you cryyyy" got stuck in my head and I went ahead and submitted. I find a couple of more hits from the album in Neon Guts and The Way Life Goes. Uzi is an important player of this decade and needed to be represented.

95. Still Brazy
Artist: YG
Best Tracks: Twist My Fingers, Why You Always Hatin?, FDT

"Please, why you always hatin?" This song has a special place with me because I heard it repeatedly on Madden 18. Nonetheless the Superblood put together another solid piece with Still Brazy.

94. KTSE
Artist: Teyana Taylor
Best Tracks: Gonna Love Me, Hurry, Rose in Harlem

Lord. Just look at the cover. Number 1 cover for sure. I've got a love/hate relationship with Taylor's voice. She sounds angelic on some of her work and not so angelic on others. Nonetheless Gonna Love Me had me in my feels for an extended amount of time and Rose in Harlem has Kanye written all over it.

93. Kanye West Presents Good Music Cruel Summer
Artist: G.O.O.D Music
Best Tracks: Mercy, Clique, New God Flow, Cold, Don't Like, Creepers

The placement of the album may seem low for as many good tracks, but they definitely cheated when they put the entire GOOD Music on one album. It's a lot of great songs on this album, but it doesn't feel like an album when listening to it, just a collection of random good songs.

92. Carter IV
Artist: Lil' Wayne
Best Tracks: Blunt Blowin', She Will, Outro

We all know that this isn't Wayne's greatest work, and after so many years between the 3rd and 4th it was a definite let down. Now it wasn't the Carter II, but it was still a quality album. Wayne shines on Blunt Blowin', not with outstanding lyrics but the song can still ride. Drake out-shines Wayne on She Will with just a chorus, but was a jam, and the Outro is a big party of rappers.

91. Shea Butter Baby

Artist: Ari Lennox
Best Tracks: Shea Butter Baby, BMO

It's ranked so low because I refuse to be the prisoner of the moment, but Lennox is a mix of confidence, sex and Dreamville, which typically means awesome music. Sometimes when I listen I wonder if her sound is over-sexual. Not sure how I feel about it, but it's a great album.

90. Father of 4
Artist: Offset
Best Tracks: Red Room, Clout, Wild Wild West

Upon first listen I was shocked by what Offset came out with because the music he came out with Metro Boomin' was way different. It was upbeat, more about the feel and dancing rather than the serious message of Father of 4. There's a mature version of what we've been listening to from the Migo and after a couple of listens, IFW it.

89. Surf

Artist: Donnie Trumpet and the Social Experiment
Best Tracks: Warm Enough, Wanna Be Cool, Sunday Candy, Rememory

A very Chance the Rapperish project, with Donnie Trumpet and the Social Experiment, the project was free, and it was one of the best gifts a musician has given out. With guest appearances from all kinds of rappers, the different instruments, and Erykah Badu, it's a win.

88. B.O.A.T.S II Me Time

Artist: 2 Chainz
Best Tracks: Feds Watching, I Do It, Used 2, Live and Learn,

Chainz sophomore album was a solid piece of work. Led by the single "Feds Watching," the album is a roller coaster with some highs and definitely some lows. It wasn't his best work, but "I Do It" is enough to put this one on the list.

87. Daytona

Artist: Pusha T
Best Tracks: If You Know You Know, Santeria, Infared

As a Drake fan, as much as Pusha is the enemy, the man can flat spit and Kanye gave us vintage beats for a vintage flow. IF You Know You Know is a great introduction about what the album is all about, from the thrilling beat, to the cocky dope talk, Pusha did an excellent job with this one.

86. Seen It All
Artist: Jeezy
Best Tracks: Seen It All, Me Okay, F*ck the World, Beez Like

It's not Trap Music 101, but I think this just might be some of Jeezy's finest work. There's a lot of maturity when listening to rappers when they get older, sometimes you don't feel the hunger and desire from them. This album felt like Jeezy was itching to prove to everyone that he's a player in this game and he did just that.

85. FAME
Artist: Chris Brown
Best Songs: Deuces, Beautiful People, No Bullshit, Look At Me Now, Yeah 3X, Wet the Bed

This was the perfect way to escape the Rihanna situation for Chris Brown. Own it. Then say FDB and go on about your business. Deuces has changed the breakup game for forever, and Look At Me Now revitalized Busta Rhymes rap career for a quick stint.

84. Raymond v. Raymond
Artist: Usher
Best Songs: There Goes My Baby, Hey Daddy, Lil Freak, OMG, Papers

This was a vintage piece from Usher that didn't receive an incredible amount of hype. Being honest, Usher will never top Confessions, but just mentioning the singles, this album could be some of the best work he's done in his career.

83. "Awaken, My Love!"

Artist: Childish Gambino
Best Songs: Redbone, Me and Your Mama, Zombies

Redbone was so hard. Me and Your Mama is too hard. You've gotta be an eccentric person to really try and give this album a chance, but it's one of my favorites after a couple of listens.

82. Ella Mai
Artist: Ella Mai
Best Songs: Boo'd Up, Shot Clock, Everything, Trip

Ella Mai set the world on fire with Boo'd Up and rode that momentum for nearly 2 years. Eventually when preparing for her first official album, she hooked up with DJ Mustard for the powerful Trip, and from then on I was hooked. Out of 16 songs, not all of them were hits, but her two singles had the lasting power to land this album #82.

81. Street Gossip
Artist: Lil Baby
Best Songs: Ready, Word on the Street, This Week, Anyway, Realist in it

If you could take all of Baby's music from 2017-2019 and put it on one album, you probably have a top 10 album. Instead their spread out over about 5 mixtapes, but Street Gossip is the best of them all.

80. King Remembered In Time
Artist: Big K.R.I.T.
Best Tracks: Talkin Bout Nothin, Meditate, Good 2getha, My Trunk,

They say it's a mixtape, sounded more like an album. This the project was released in 2013 and really is what introduced me to Krit. The Mississippi boy with the Texas sound has been a huge influence on my playlist ever since, and this is what started it for me.

79. 1989
Artist: Taylor Swift
Best Tracks: Style, Wildest Dreams

There were a lot of pop hits off of this album but the two songs that are forever stitched in my brain are Style and Wildest Dreams. 5 of her 12 songs on this album were singles and all did great. (Bad Blood, Shake It Off, and Blank Space are the other 3.) I've never been discriminatory when it comes to music. If I hear and I like it, I listen to it.

78. Beerbongs and Bentleys
Artist: Post Malone
Best Tracks: Psycho, Rockstar, Better Now, Ball For Me, 92 Explorer, Candy Paint

On first appearance, I thought I would never listen to Post Malone. Then he teamed up with 21 Savage for Rockstar and my mood changed. The album feels like a drugged roller coaster with plenty of emotional ups and downs. Good work for him.

77. 2014 Forest Hills
Artist: J. Cole
Best Tracks: The Whole Thing.

I loved this album. But Cole is a boring rapper so it's not one that I return to often. I thought every track was great, but I can't listen it to from start to end. I need a break to break up the somber sounding records. Entertainment is just as important to me, and if I can't listen to it from cover to cover it can't be the best.

76. SUPERFLY
s
Artist: Future and Various Artists
Best Tracks: R.A.N, Tie My Shoes, This Way,

A superstar line up including Future, Lil Wayne, Miguel, H.E.R, Khalid, Partynextdoor and way more. The movie wasn't incredible, but the sound track was.

75. Over It

Artist: Summer Walker
Best Tracks: Come Thru, Drunk Dialing, I'll Kill You

Outstanding performance from one of the newer, premier artist in R&B. She follows SZA's route with pure honesty and transparent lyrics, leaving not much to the imagination. Usher, Drake, Bryson Tiller and Jhene Aiko star in guest appearances. A great first album.

74. Barter 6
Artist: Young Thug
Best Tracks: Check, Can't Tell, OD

The introduction to the eccentric Young Thug. We heard him on lifestyle with Rich Gang, but we finally got the full "This is Young Thug" with the Barter 6. I had 0 interest in this album on first arrival. A faithful Wayne fan, I couldn't imagine someone with playing with him. But years later I found myself falling in love with the song Check and the rest of the album.

73. DiCaprio 2
Artist: J.I.D.
Best Tracks: Off Deez, Skrawberries, Westbrook,

J.I.D. is the fast, agile Power Ranger from Dreamville. He brings energy to every track he's on, and his agility while he moves through bars is excellent. His style is acquired taste, but one I'm effing with.

72. Indigo
Artist: Chris Brown
Best Tracks: Indigo, Come Together, Heat, No Guidance, Girl of My Dreams

The 2019 albums may just be better than the rest of a lot of these albums, but I'm doing my best to not be a prisoner of the moment, since they just came out. This album is great, one of Chris's best and one that will continue grow on me, through years and listens.

71. Magna Carta Holy Grail
Artist: Jay-Z
Best Tracks: F*ckwithmeyouknowIgotit, Oceans, BBC

One of Jay-Z's best works. It's no where near Reasonable Doubt or the Black Album, but in 2013 this was a gem. A host of guest artists came through and helped out HOV on this one and each brings their personality and meshes with Jay.

70. Cadillactica

Artist: Big Krit
Best Tracks: Life, Pay Attention, Mind Control, Third Control

One of my favorites from KRIT. A real southern feel to the album, the album feels like grape Kool-Aid and a plate of chicken spaghetti from Divine Catering on Mobberly.

69. Culture II

Artist: Migos
Best Tracks: Narcos, Walk It Talk It, Stir Fry, Notice Me

Now the efficiency of the album wasn’t great. 24 songs and only 8 of them were great. Yet none the less, I didn’t expect this much out of them, especially after the success of Bad and Boujee and Culture.

68. Crash Talk

Artist: Schoolboy Q
Best Songs: CHopstix, Numb Numb Juice, CrasH, Water

Dropped in 2019, Q has changed with the game, making shorter songs with catchy choruses, and it worked. Q typically releases music with dark tales and stories, and Crash Talk is sort of different. While songs like Drunk and 5200 are deeper, CHopstix and Water provide a 2019 feel to it. Good work Q.

67. Carter V

Artist: Lil Wayne
Best Songs: Uproar, Mona Lisa feat. Kendrick Lamar, Start This off Right

It was really encouraging to see and hear Wayne’s Carter V. Mainly because I’m glad he actually got a chance to put something out. It’s a solid album, but the problem with artists who’ve reached GOAT status, is that in order to move people you’ve got to continue to drop GOAT material. Mona Lisa is the closest thing to GOAT Wayne, but Kendrick stole the show.

66. 24K Magic

Artist: Bruno Mars
Best Songs: 24K Magic, That's What I Like, Calling All My Lovelies

In late 2017, Mars dropped a 9 song album that rode the momentum of Uptown Funk. He turned the flavor up 100 percent and released a certified classic.

65. Without Warning

Artists: Metro Boomin', Offset, 21 Savage
Best Songs: Ghostface Killers, Ric Flair Drip, My Choppa Hate Niggas, Nightmare

Nothing like random music from producers that keep it going. Metro Boomin dropped several projects this decade with artists, and this is one of the best. Ghostface Killers pops it off, and the climax happens early with Ric Flair Drip. 21's brightest moment is My Choppa, and Nightmare is a preview of what was to come from Father of 4.

64. Black Panther Soundtrack

Artists: Kendrick Lamar Various
Best Songs: All The Stars, X, King’s Dead, Big Shot, Pray for Me

Miss me with that bullshit! Ya not a gang banger you a tourist! The biggest movie of the decade had a soundtrack that matched. As proud as I felt watching the movie, was about as good as I felt listening to the soundtrack. BPS was the first great album of 2018; thanks Kendrick.

63. My Name is My Name

Best Artist: Pusha T
Best Tracks: King Push, Numbers On the Boards, Let Me Love You, Who I Am

Long before Pusha T put Drake's name in his mouth, he dropped his first solo album and it was awesome. Riding the momentum of Cold Winter, Pusha T released this album in 2013 and it was dope. King Push starts off with a pregame vibe and Numbers On the Boards brings energy. A surprise guest appearance from Kelly Rowland is a highlight and 2 Chainz stars in Who I Am.

62. Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight

Artist: Travis Scott
Best Tracks: Way Back, Through the Late Night, Beibs In the Trap, Sweet Sweet, Outside, Goosebumps, Pick Up the Phone

The sophomore album from Travis Scott is where the Phoenix found it's wings and took off. The album is a classic, but it's not perfect. It's a lengthy project and has a couple of dull moments, keeping it from being in the elite category.

61. To Pimp A Butterfly

Artist: Kendrick Lamar
Best Songs: King Kunta, These Walls, Alright, The Blacker the Berry, I

Some people consider this Kendrick's greatest work. I don't. Part of music to me is being able to listen through the entirety of the project. This album I can't. So it can't be the greatest, but it is a great piece of work.

The 5th installment of the Top 100 Albums of the Decade. A lot of great pieces of work on this list, surely some nostalgia will hit you.

60. Based on A TRU Story

Artist: 2 Chainz

Best Tracks: Crack, No Lie, Birthday Song, I'm Different, I Feel Good

The introductory album to 2 Chainz solo career allowed us to meet the swaggy, wit of one 2 Chainz. What better way to show off your fun side with Birthday Song feat. Kanye West. We all wanted a "Big Booty Hoe" upon hearing that. No Lie steals the show as the best song, and Drake's presence elevates the whole joint.

59. I Am > I Was

Artist: 21 Savage

Best Songs: a lot, a&t, out for the night, can't leave without it, monster

Releasing in late 2018, 21 Savage brought about legitimacy to his career when he dropped I Am>I  Was. In what felt like a gimmick rapper with “Issa Album,” Savage shows everyone how committed he was to his craft when he dropped a top 10 of 2019 song in “a lot.” Personally this album does not disappoint, and while it might not be a classic in the eyes of hip hop, it’s definitely a classic for 21 Savage.

58. LONG.LIVE.A$AP

Artist: A$AP Rocky

Best Song: Goldie, F*ckin Problems, PMW, Wild For the Night, 1Train

A$AP is one of the originators of this fashionista, gender neutral rap game that's so prevalent in 2019. From the lead single "F*ckin Problems" to "1Train," Rocky proves he's not afraid to share the limelight and enlist help. On songs like Goldie he shines by himself.

57. AT.LONG.LAST.ASAP

Artist: A$AP Rocky

Best Tracks: L$D, Lord Pretty Flacko Jodye 2, Electric Body, Wavybone, M'$, Everyday

These albums felt like continuations from one to the next, which in this case was a good thing. Never afraid to have features, AT.LAST.A$AP has features on more than half of the songs. Everyday feat. Miguel and Rod Stewart shines as the best song on the album. M'$ has one of the best Wayne features of the Decade, and LPFJ2 is bound to make you move.

56. My Everything

Artist: Ariana Grande

Best Songs: One Last Time, Best Mistake, Be My Baby, Love Me Harder, My Everything, Only 1

Confession. I love Ariana Grande. This album is my favorite of hers. This was her official breakaway from the Nickelodeon era and with Love Me Harder she definitely grew up. Big Sean’s assist on Best Mistake and Childish Gambino on Break Your Heart Right Back brings a different dimension that I appreciated.

55. More Life

Artist: Drake
Best Tracks: Free Smoke, Passionfruit, Jorja, Madibba Riddim, Nothings Into Something, Teenage Fever

A different kind of project from Drake. Not even titled an album, but a playlist, and honestly it feels like a playlist. Some songs you like, some you don’t, but with Drake, the one’s you do like happen to be classics.

54. AM
Artist: Arctic Monkeys
Best Songs: Do I Wanna Know?, R U Mine?, I Wanna Be Yours
I was in Zumies when I first heard “I Wanna Be Yours.” After about 30 seconds, I asked Siri what song is this? That started a course to an album that is wins the “Most Random but I Love This Shit” Award. It’s as if BB King met the Beatles and had a jam session.

53. Dying to Live
Artist: Kodak Black

Best Songs: Transgressions, Calling My Spirit, If I'm Lyin I'm Flyin, Mosh Pit, Testimony, Gnarly, Zeze
Kodak Black went from being somebody I couldn't stand to being one of the biggest draws in rap. His album phonically sounds good, which was a major concern for me going into it. His "wirey" type voice is peculiar and very specific to him, and his producers did an excellent job of making sure that they song was a quality piece of work
.

52. 4
Artist: Beyoncé
Best Songs: Party, Dance For You, Love on Top, Run the World

A great album, not quite a classic, but nonetheless Beyoncé can put them together. This felt like the last time Beyoncé tried to fit into a cookie cutter, as her next two albums are definitely liberating and revolutionary. Love on Top shines as the best song on the album, which to me was very good.

51. What A Time To Be Alive

Artist: Drake and Future
Best Songs: Big Rings, Live From the Gutter, Diamonds Dancing, Scholarships, Jumpman, Jersey, 30 for 30 Freestyle

In 2015, sorta out of nowhere, Drake and Future combo'd for a joint album and man was it ever special. There wasn't a gym in 2015 that didn't have Jumpman blasting through their speakers.

50. Future Hndrx Presents: The WZRD
Artist: Future
Best Songs: Jumpin on a Jet, Crushed Up, Talk S**t Like a Preacher, First Off, Ain't Coming Back

"Back on the Forbes, shit crazy, I make more than Dwayne Wade baby." Now he might not be able to watch the Heat play anymore, but Future found away to produce another solid piece of work. Crushed up steals the show as the best song, but the trap music god produced again.

49. Championships
Artist: Meek Mill
Best Songs: On Me, What’s Free, Championships, Going Bad, Tic Tac Toe, Wit the S***s

Meek got outta jail and started winning immediately. He’s hanging out with Bob Kraft and Gucci, he made things right with Drake, and oh yeah he released a freaking gem. There’s a bunch of great songs are on here individually, but two things keep it out of the top tier, the amount of features and Meek’s continual singing.

48. God Forgives, I Don't
Artist: Rick Ross
Best Songs: 3 Kings, Ashamed, Sixteen, Amsterdam, Ice Cold, Ten Jesus Pieces

The Boss came through with one of his best pieces of work in 2012. "God Forgives I Don't" attempts to show different sides with slower songs like Maybach Music IV and Diced Pineapples. At the same time Ross gives you that same chant feel with "Hold Me Back." It's a thorough album, one of his best.

47. Jesus Piece
Artist:The Game
Best Songs: Scared Now, Ali Bomaye, Jesus Piece, All That

The Game is one of the most underrated artists in rap today. He finds ways to keep producing incredible music, but the problem is that Game's music isn't always timeless. This isn't the case for Jesus Piece. The entire album was a great listen from The Game. The album is heavily featured, partially the reason it's ranked as low as it is.

46. Pretty Girls Like Trap Music
Artist: 2 Chainz
Best Songs: Good Drank, 4 AM, Realize, Big Amount, It's a Vibe, Blue Cheese

Chainz' 3rd and final appearance on the Top 100 comes from his best work, "Pretty Girls Like Trap Music." From Saturday Night on, Chainz proves he's at the top of his game and prime in rap. It's a Vibe took off as the lead song, but 4 AM proved to be the best song on the album for me.

45. Redemption
Artist: Jay Rock

Best Songs: Tap Out, OSOM, King’s Dead, Win

The Black Hippy member, Top Dawg representative gave us a look through the eyes of a blood on Redemption. He makes no apology for his gang affiliates, the first song titled "The Bloodiest." OSOM takes the cake as the best song on the album. J. Cole's story telling is phenomenal and might be one of the best verses of the decade.

44. 21
Artists: Adele
Best Songs: Rolling in the Deep, Rumour Has It, Set Fire to the Rain, Someone Like You

Adele entered her prime with 21, and the album produced some of her biggest hits to this day. Rolling in the deep starts the album off with a powerful punch, her first lead single as well. Set Fire to the Rain and Someone Like You cement this album as one of the best.

43. Care Package

Artists: Drake
Best Songs: Trust Issues, How Bout Now, 4 PM in Calabasas, Girls Love Beyonce', Draft Day

Released in 2019, Care Package is a compilation album of the singles that were never formally released before that all Drake fans absolutely adore. Trust Issues is the biggest win from this album, but there's no shortages of greatness on this album.

42. 4Eva is a Mighty Long Time

Artist: Big K.R.I.T
Best Songs: Subenstein, 1999, Ride Wit Me, Layup, Aux Cord, Get Away, Justin Scott, Mixed Messages, Keep the devil Off

KRIT released a double album towards the end of 2017, and to me it's one of his greatest works. The first album was the more traditional sounding K.R.I.T. Subenstein and Aux cord steal the show on the front side, while Justin Scott and Mixed Messages shine on part two.

41. Kaleidoscope Dream
Artist: Miguel
Best Songs: Adorn, Use Me, Do You..., How Many Drinks, Arch & Point

Kaleidoscope Dream is exactly what you expect an album to be when it's named Kaleidoscope Dream. Miguel isn't as talented as Prince, but by the end of his career his entire body of work: the edge, the sex, the simplicity, will be something that can be compared.

40. H.E.R.
Artists: H.E.R.
Best Songs: Avenue, Focus, Every Kind of Way, Best Part, Pigment, 2

H.E.R. is a gem. Her voice is special, her musical talents are immaculate. She'll be a star in the music industry as long as she wants to. From her music and interviews she has a great sense of awareness, and by the silhouette from her album cover, I love her.

39. Wildheart
Artist: Miguel
Best Songs: A Beautiful Exit, Deal, Coffee, Waves, Hollywood Dreams, Gfg, Destinado a Morir

This is Miguel's raunchiest work, and usually that's a sign for me that it lacks. Wildheart lacks nothing. If anything the project might be 3 songs too long. Miguel's vocals are other worldly and even if he repeats a rift or two, it's still solid.

38. Culture
Artists: Migos
Best Songs: T-Shirt, Bad and Boujee, Slippery, Kelly Price

Might be some possible eye rolling here, but do yourself a favor and go listen to T-Shirt again. Exactly. As soon as the beat comes on the rhythm starts to flow and now your remember just how impact this album was. Bad and Boujee took Migos to another stratosphere, a high that led to solo albums and Quality Control blowing tf up!

37. If You're Reading This Its Too Late

Artist: Drake
Best Tracks: Legend, Energy, 10 Bands, Know Yourself, Madonna, Star 67, Now & Forever, Jungle, 6PM In New York

There's nothing better than random albums dropped out of the cloud to the world. Drake surprised everyone when he dropped this masterpiece. I remember student teaching when this album dropped and spending my conference period turning up to Drake. The whole project is special, just listen.

36. Victory Lap

Artists: Nipsey Hussle
Best Songs: Dedication, Blue Laces 2, Grinding All My Life, Hussle & Motivate

R.I.P. to the fallen Legend. Not the biggest Nipsey Hussle fan, to be honest his slow flow kinda gets old after awhile. That's denying hits though. Hussle's songs individually flow well, but together the project can feel lengthy to a non fan.

35. War & Leisure
Artist: Miguel
Best Songs: Banana Clip, Told You So, Caramelo Duro, Come Through and Chill

Miguel's best work to this date, very calm and sedated compared to the wild Wildheart, but the smoother than ever Miguel still comes through. Told You So highlights the album as the best song to me, and Skywalker is the lead single to one of the best works of the decade.

34. X
a
Artist: Chris Brown
Best Songs: X, Add Me In, Loyal, New Flame, Stereotype, Lady In a Glass Dress, Do Better, Drunk Texting, Lost In Ya Love, Autumn Leaves

Song for song this is Chris Brown's best album. Granted he has had better songs, but track for track X can go toe to toe with all of the rest of his albums. Brown flexes maturity while continuing to be R&B's wild child.

33. Oxymoron

Artist: Schoolboy Q
Best Songs: Gangsta, Collard Greens, The Purge, Studio, Man of the Year

Q does an incredible job of crippin and story telling on Oxymoron. A Top Dog representative, you can surely tell too. There's a level of care that Q has with his albums and he keeps this one as funky as possible.

32. Scorpion
Artist: Drake
Best Songs: Nonstop, Elevate, God's Plan, Mob Ties, Peak, Jaded, Finesse, That's How You Feel, After Dark

The project is full of hits, one of his most complete projects he's put out to this date. People get stuck with Drake, always looking for him to top Take Care. To most he won't, and that's okay. The production he puts out year in and year out hasn't fallen off a bit. The rap side of the album left little to be desired. He gave us bars, he popped shit, addressed his beef, and even addressed his son. The R&B side was more of a pop album with a collection of straight hits. No real theme to it, but everything on that side was quality.

31. It's Better This Way

Artist: Big Krit
Best Tracks: Piece on Chain, How Bout That Money, Vanilla Sky, Can't Be Still

So I know it was a mixtape, but really this deserves to be treated as an album. The poet known as K.R.I.T's best work of this decade is 50 minutes of southern vibes relaxed best with a vice.

30. Not All Heroes Wear Capes

Artist: Metro Boomin'
Best Songs: 10AM, Overdue, Don't Come Out the House, Dreamcatcher, Space Cadet, 10 Freaky Girls, Up to Something, No Complaints

Not often do you see compilations as great as Metro Boomin's "Not All Heroes Wear Capes." For one, the producer enlisted a great crew for his album. Gucci Mane, Swae Lee, Travis Scott, 21 Savage, Gunna and Young Thug all represented Atlanta to the fullest and came together for Metro on one of the most slept on, best albums of the decade.

29. Dreams and Nightmares
Artist: Meek Mill
Best Songs: Dreams and Nightmares, Young and Gettin' It, Believe It, Real N****s Come First

The best introductory song probably on the list, no doubt did I think this would be a club banger when I first heard it. Then it became a folk lore where you had to learn the song. Meek's first album was excellent, from the single Amen to the best song Real N****s Come First.

28. Nothing Was the Same
Artist: Drake
Best Songs: Tuscan Leather, Furthest Thing, Started From the Bottom, From Time, Connect, All Me

Sharpie Drake as a GOAT after this album. His 3rd project solidified Drake as a serious artist and continues to show his depth and range as an artist. Tuscan Leather starts the album off in epic proportions and From Time steals the show as the best song.

27. Rich Forever
Artist: Rick Ross
Best Songs: MMG Untouchable, Triple Beam Dreams, Stay Schemin

In 2012, just before "God Forgives, I Don't" Rozay delivered a mixtape that was better than the album. Rozay brought the dog out for this one and talked Big Boy on High Definition and MMG Untouchable. Stay Schemin is the star of the show, and Triple Beam Dreams delivered the best Nas verse in years.

26. Untitled.Unmastered

Artist: Kendrick Lamar
Best Tracks: untitled 03, untitled 04, untitled 07

Kung-Fu Kenny just felt like dropping random hits, and guess who was with it? This guy. I kinda wished he would've named the tracks, but at the same time glad he didn't. Kendrick's great. He has many levels and in this pack of unreleased gems he gave us nearly every one.

25. Reality Show

Artist: Jazmine Sullivan
Best Songs: Dumb, Mascara, Let It Burn, Masterpiece

The most underrated, slept on artist in the music game. Wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if she hadn't put out new music because she's singing for the Lord himself. Her voice has incredible range, from deep and rich to an alto-falsetto range. I'll stop crushing on her now.

24. The 20/20 Experience

Artist: Justin Timberlake
Best Songs: Pusher Love Girl, Tunnel Vision, Spaceship Coupe, That Girl, Mirrors

Timberlake made his return to music after 6 years of being an actor and absolutely demanded his respect. The legend dropped the 20/20 Experience with Timbaland and enlisted 0 help. He dominated the charts with Mirrors, and the rest of the album was gold.

23. KOD

Artist: J. Cole

Best Songs: KOD, ATM, Motiv8, FRIENDS, Brackets, Window Pain, 1985

The message of the album is kinda like when people go to the Apollo and sing gospel. You can't boo them if they're bad, but if it's good you get caught in the spirit. KOD has whatever meaning you want to, but it's obvious Cole wants us to stop doing drugs. He's gotta positive message to dope beats, kinda exactly from what you need and expect from Cole at this junction of his career.

22. Beyonce'
Artist: Beyonce'
Best Songs: Drunk In Love, Partition, Rocket, Mine, XO, Flawless, 7/11

She took over the world with "Drunk In Love," similar to "Crazy In Love" and showed us she was grown with Partition. Beyonce' is an incredible artist. She is the truth. She hasn't really had a bad moment in the public eye. She's awesome.

21. channel Orange

Artist: Frank Ocean
Best Songs: Thinkin' Bout You, Forrest Gump, Pink Matter, Sweet Life

One of the most underrated turned overhyped turned ghost artist of the decade. Frank Ocean does so much behind the scenes action, but in 2012 he dropped channel ORANGE and introduced the world to a new talented weirdo.

20. HNDRXX
Artist: Future
Best Songs: My Collection, Comin Out Strong, Incredible, Neva Missa Lost, Selfish

The R&B Future album is easily his best work. The mellow vibe is Future at his best. The album starts with subtle haymakers at previous relationships in My Collection. The Weeknd shines in Comin Out Strong, and Incredible shines as the best song on the album.

19. 25

Artist: Adele
Best Tracks: Hello, Send My Love, When We Were Young, All I Ask

Adele sung her way back into our lives 4 years off of the release of "21" when she sung "Hello, it's me." From that moment on the soulful Brit sung her life away, showing vulnerability and truth in every line.' Send My Love" is a fun poppy version of Adele and "All I Ask" can send you to tears.

18. 56 Nights

Artists: DJ ESCO and Future
Best Songs: Never Gon Lose, March Madness, Trap Niggas, 56 Nights

So I'm opening myself up to critique by including another mixtape, but "March Madness" is one of the greatest songs of this decade. "Never Gon Lose and Trap Niggas" carry the tape through the middle and "56 Nights" brings a strong finish to the tape.

17. Unapologetic
Artist: Rihanna
Best Songs: Diamonds, Loveeeeee Song, Pour It Up, Jump, Love Without Tragedy/Mother Mary

Rihanna placed herself in to elite category when she released this album. "Diamonds," the lead single, dominated radio charts for half the year. "Pour It Up" is an imitation of "Bands" yet it still jumps. "Love Without Tragedy/Mother Mary" stars as the best song of the album.

16. Born Sinner

Artist: J. Cole
Best Tracks: Viluminati, Runaway, Forbidden Fruit, Crooked Smile, Born Sinner

Cole's sophomore effort is what brought him into the elite category. 21 songs and all 21 of them Cole snaps. Cole show's his range as an artists jumping all over "Viluminati" and singing on "She Knows." "Born Sinner" and Fauntleroy flexes as the best song on the album. Crooked Smile was the most notable song off of the album, but this to me Born Sinner is Cole's best work to this date. He's credited for choosing not to feature other artists, but honestly that's what makes this album the best to me.

15. Coloring Book
ut

Artist: Chance the Rapper
Best Songs: No Problem, Mixtape, Juke Jam, All Night, Smoke Break, Blessings

The album that made the world fall in love with Chance the Rapper. The honesty and vulnerabilities he shows by displaying his love for God and his Baby's Mother now wife throughout the album. "Juke Jam" stars as the best song, Beiber providing the vocals, "All Night" is a poppy fun song and "Smoke Break" influxes some Atlanta with Future.

14. Invasion of Privacy

Artist: Cardi B
Best Songs: Drip, Bickenhead, Bodak Yellow, I Like It

Ridiculous debut album. I don't care who wrote it. She quote it. To have so many hits on a debut album is remarkable, and she set a new bar for any female rapper that wants a crack at it. Some albums have themes where the artist takes you through their progressions as a person, but this album is a collection of hits. Really a better version of Culture II. She dominated radio air waves with "Bodak Yellow" in 2017 and did the same with "I Like It" this year.

13. Lemonade

Artist: Beyonce
Best Songs: Pray You Catch Me, Hold Up, Sorry, Daddy Lessons, All Night, Formation

Most spill tea when dropping bombshells; Beyonce chose Lemonade. From the first moments of the album "Pray You Catch Me" sets the tone of the album. "You can taste the dishonesty, it's all over your breath." Damn. The album takes you through the process of a torn relationship that heals itself by the end of the album. "Sandcastles" is an emotional roller coaster, and "Formation" shines as the best song.

12. Views

Artist: Drake
Best Songs: U With Me?, Feel No Ways, Hype, Weston Road Flows, Controlla, One Dance, Childs Play, Fire & Desire

This isn't Drake's best album, but it's my favorite. The chief complaint about the album is that it didn't flow well and Drake was distracted by Meek's beef. I call BS. I don't care what was going on, all I know is that the amount of hits that are on this album is high. "Weston Road Flows" is my favorite Drake song of all time, but "Hotline Bling and One Dance" dominated the pop charts, and we were introduced to island Drake with "Controlla."

11. Rodeo

Artist: Travis Scott
Best Songs: Oh My Dis Side, 3500, Antidote, Impossible, Maria I'm Drunk, I Can Tell

I was first introduced to Travis Scott on Meek Mill's "I Get It" on "Dreamchasers 2." The Mo City native went hard on his verse and the fascination started there. Days before Rodeo was released and it was one of the best mixtapes of the decade. On "Oh My Dis Side" Scott shows some vulnerability in his lyrics reminiscing on things like money made, money lost, first kisses and late night adventures. "Antidote" was the lead single and it was successful and hot. "Impossible" uses a sample, that to this day I still can't figure out, and Beiber and Thugga shine on "Maria I'm Drunk."

10. Watch The Throne

Artist: Kanye West and Jay-Z
Best Songs: No Church in the Wild, Lift Off, N*ggas in Paris, Otis, Who Gon Stop Me, Illest MFer Alive, HAM, Primetime

Riding the momentum of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, in 2011 Kanye teamed up with Big Bro to deliver one of the timeless rap albums of all time. The joint starts with "No Church in the Wild," and Frank Ocean's voice is perfect for the iconic song. "N*ggas in Paris" was the best song of the album, and you couldn't go to a baseball game without hearing "Who Gon Stop Me" as a walk-up song.

9. The Life of Pablo
Artist: Kanye West
Best Songs: Ultralight Beam, Pt. 2, Famous, Waves, FML, Real Friends, Wolves, 30 Hours, No More Parties in LA, Facts, Fade

Kanye's greatest work is an open discussion. Most will say "MBDTF," some "College Dropout," but here's the case for "The Life of Pablo." The entire album is a non skipper. The album takes off as soon as Kanye professes his love for his self again. Waves is amazing and easily the best song on the album. The beat and Chris Brown's vocals take it to another level. 30 hours gives the old College Dropout feel, and Kendrick Lamar absolutely murders "No More Parties in LA."

8. CTRL
Artist: SZA
Best Songs: Supermodel, Love Galore, Doves In the Wind, The Weekend, Garden, Broken Clocks, Normal Girl

"I'm writing this letter to let you know I'm really leaving and no, I'm not keeping your shit." The opening words to CTRL let's you know this is about to be real. The lady of TDE keeps the name of the label strong with original and awesome content. The honesty and vulnerability in SZA's lyrics is amazing. This album dominated my phone. I listened to it the entire summer of 17, visualizing the stories she placed on wax. "Love Galore" shines as the best song on the album. "The Weekend" dominated air waves and "Garden" maybe the most slept on song of the entire album.

7. DS2
Artist: Future
Best Songs: Thought It Was a Drought, Where Ya At, Stick Talk, Rotation, Trap N****s, The Percocet & Stripper Joint, Commas

"I just f*cked your b*itch in some Gucci flip flops." Well damn Future. Though it was an album, Future wanted to create the same vibe as Dirty Sprite 1. Future's best work of the decade is full of hits. The album doesn't have a real concept, just a collection of awesome songs. "Percocet & Stripper Joint" stand out as the star of the album to me, but "Thought It Was a Drought" and "Rotation" are gems that will keep the album along the top.

6. good kid, m.a.ad. city

Artist: Kendrick Lamar
Songs: B*tch, Don't Kill My Vibe, Backseat Freestyle, The Art of Peer Pressure, Money Trees, Poetic Justice

In 2012, Kendrick Lamar changed the game. Every rapper was put on notice, and everyone raced to listen to his first project "good kid m.a.a.d city." My first time listening through it I was on a treadmill. I remember my excitement listening to the skits in between records, from the dominoes all the way down to the prayer at the end of the album. The album was a story and a theme and the greatest thing about it all is that Kendrick pushes his religion fulfilling his purpose.

5. Damn.
Artist: Kendrick Lamar
Best Songs: DNA, YAH, ELEMENT. LOYALTY. PRIDE. HUMBLE. LUST. LOVE. DUCKWORTH

After "To Pimp A Butterfly," I wondered if Kendrick was going towards the Talib Kweli type rapper, too smart to follow or listen. "Damn." was more like his first album with radio friendly hits, but still finding a way to place a message inside of his songs. "LUST. is amazing to me and is the best song on the album." Zacarri showed his ass on "LOVE." and Rihanna was simply amazing on "LOYALTY."

4. Astroworld
Artist: Travis Scott

Best Songs: STARGAZING, SICKO MODE, R.I.P. SCREW, STOP TRYING TO BE GOD, WAKE UP, 5% TINT, NC-17, ASTROTHUNDER, YOSEMITE, CAN'T SAY, WHO? WHAT!, BUTTERFLY EFFECT

It's been a vibe ever since it came out. Appropriately titled "Astroworld," this album is a theme park with the different beats and the different vibes. It feels like 17 different roller coasters. Of course the song of the year Sicko Mode is a jam, but there aren't any real skip tracks on the album. A lot of people love Scott and if you look at his discography, he's on his way to a legendary career.

3. Anti
Artist: Rihanna
Best Songs: Consideration, Kiss It Better, Work, Desperado, Needed Me, Love on the Brain, Close to You, Sex with Me

After Unapologetic I was super excited to see what her next project was going to be. ANTI met every expectation I had and exceeded them. "Work" captivated my mind. My favorite female and male artists were on the same song. I remember riding to a wedding for 30 minutes and only listening to that song. "Needed Me" was sung by ever female in my class. The album doesn't have any skips and "Close to You" is one of the best finishers to an album.

2. Take Care
Artist: Drake
Best Songs: Shot for Me, Headlines, Crew Love, Take Care, Marvins Room, Make Me Proud, Lord Knows, Cameras, Doing it Wrong, The Real Her, HYFR, Practice, The Motto

An artists sophomore album may be the most important album they come out with it. You gain money and fame from the first album, but are you still hungry, are you a GOAT? Drake released "Trust Issues" months before the album came out, and the first single was "Marvin's Room." With those two songs alone Drake answered the call. People from the ages of 22-36 understand just how monumental "Take Care," was for the culture. He sung the thoughts and feelings of young teens and adults everywhere. Do I feel it's Drake's best work, personally no. That doesn't mean that I don't know or remember the impact the Canadian had on us all in 2011. This album made the GOAT conversation possible. Forever in our hearts.

1. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
Artist: Kanye West
Best Songs: Dark Fantasy, Power, All of the Lights, Monster, So Appalled, Devil In a New Dress, Runaway, Hell of a Life, Blame Game, Lost In the World

I honestly feel Kanye went crazy after this album. Mainly because between "Graduation" and "MBDTF" he released two of the greatest projects ever. Nicki Minaj opened the album off with a cool intro in one of her weird voices and Kanye commences to drop his best flows to just a raw hip hop beat on "Dark Fantasy." "Power" could possibly one of the greatest songs ever, "All of the Lights" is a hip hop/classical masterpiece. "Monster" produced the greatest Nicki Minaj flow of all time. "Devil In a New Dress" produced the best flow ever from Rick Ross. Kanye gave us his best and brought out the best of everyone around them. No fuzzy feelings, just bars and great music.
