The Best 100 Songs I Spun in 2020

This year has been a shit show for the most part, but thankfully the music has held up and helped bring us through. A lot of records and albums were released in 2020, and my human ears only heard so much of it. Nonetheless these are the best 100 tracks that crossed my path from December of 2019 to November of 2020.

.

100. Diana feat. King Combs - Pop Smoke

I didn't list to Pop Smoke while he was alive, but after hearing 50 Cent produced the posthumous album I figured I'd give it a shot. To my surprise the album was excellent, and the chorus to Diana and Combs' smooth talk help go a long way.

99. Woah - Lil Baby

Upon first listen I thought the song title was corny because I thought this was going to be a dance record, but like baby said in "How: "I might do the woah (Woah), nigga, I don't dance," this record was full of bars, and a gentle reminder that none of yall is fly as me...WOAH"

98. White Tee - Summer Walker
PRIA'S CHOICE*

So this is a true embodiment of the sensual r&b wave that’s rolling through the south and especially Atlanta. The beat is so player in my eyes (know I’m shallow lol) and both artists glide across the record perfectly. You here the drums beating as Summer’s melodic voice slides with it as her lyrics reflect she’s definitely looking for a good time. Miss Walker (if ya nasty) switches cadences up a few times throughout to provide several vibes. I love it HERE.

97. Rags2Riches - Rod Wave
PRIA'S CHOICE*

Definitely a popular crowd favorite. This joint goes DUMB through your speakers instantly. I was actually out at a hookah lounge when I heard this and immediately had to ask WHO IS THISSSSSSSSSS! Rod Wave definitely captured the right energy to convey the messages he was spitting. As soon as he starts singing, you automatically feel it. As if you know what he’s been through and to me that’s what makes artists standout. Making people feel something as they experience the music. You even attempt to sing the song with the same flavor as him (or is that only me?!) Then you have Million Dollar baby on the latest version and we know that Lil Baby might as well be called the Southern Drake because if he’s on the feature then it’s automatically up. However, this definitely one of the top songs of the year in my opinion.

96. Float - 6Lack
PRIA'S CHOICE*

Ironically, I’m attracted to this song for the lyrical content. I feel like 6lack is speaking on realistic ish and something we can all can probably relate to at some point throughout 2020. It’s been a tough year for us all and he displays that a bit throughout the context of the song. Not to mention he’s singing about these experiences over a very pleasing, relaxing beat. Not even a huge fan of the guy but this one touched home for me.

95. Out West feat. Young Thug - JACKBOYS

Back to back appearances from a duo that's been putting heat out together for years. Out West was fun and more of a Tik Tok moment than a great song, but I threw my elbows out just like everybody else.

94. D4L - Drake, Future, Young Thug

"FBG, YSL, know just what's brackin'." For a week this song was my favorite song off Drake's mixtape, but it didn't have the steam to last the whole year so it falls right here.

93. Harder Than My Demons - Big Sean

Sean has a history of having spiritual vibes and "God got me working harder than my Demons," definitely goes right in with that trend. The flow is consistent and the message is encouraging and that's why it ends up here at 90.

92. Wolves feat. Post Malone - Big Sean

Blame the timing of the album for coming in to the back half of the list, but I just wasn't blown away with at first, but on Wolves Post Malone's verse is enough to make this list. I tried my hardest to hate on him, but I can't deny him, he was tough on this one.

91. ZTFO - Big Sean

Sean is on another planet right now, and who can blame him. He's tied to Jhene, he's a known weed smoker, so whenever it's time to ZEN TF OUT, Sean probably has one of the best experiences. The song is catchy, but I wasn't blown away with it, sorta like the rest of the album.

90. Kacey Talk - Youngboy Never Broke Again

"New Coup. Take off." The beat is dope, and YB is catchy as hell. The lyrics aren't like the most captivating of all time, so I honestly didn't get fulfilled by it, but if you're working out it's a consistent vibe to keep you going.

89. Sticks With Me - Youngboy Never Broke Again

This song gives me "AI2" vibes. Sounds like it was made around the same time, YB's best compilation of work. When you listen to YB expect murder and guns to be the topic, and this is the same case with Sticks With Me. Great Louisiana beat, another hit for YB.

88. No Idea - Don Toliver

I first heard Don T. back in 2017 and he's done nothing but evolve into a beast. Can definitely tell that he has a Travis Scott, Jackboys type of style, that fits him perfectly. No Idea feels like Astroworld all over again, and for me that's a big plus!

87. Kingpin - Camp Nowhere

Longview's own makes this list and it's deserving. Camp's gotta different style and it shows here with Kingpin. I can't really compare what this sounds like, it's gotta great tempo, he flashes different styles and different content. It's not the best of 2020, but it's definitely a highlight.

86. Eat - TOBE NWIGWE & FAT

"I'm bout to be on first name basis with BEYONCE!" Well damn, that's a flex. A fun record, from the Afrocentric couple, Eat displays that good old school cafeteria flow. The beat is fun, the flow is fun, everything about this record feels fun.

85. Impossible - Sosa

I love supporting friends and people I grew up with, but that's not why she's on this list. This song is very Neo-Soul like, definitely puts me in a Jill Scott realm of thinking. Sosa is so talented with her voice and she allows it to be the star of the show. Should check it out frfr......

84. Do It - Chloe x Halle

The song is exactly what you expect from this duo. They keep it sweet and classy on this one and let their talents steal you away rather than raunchy lyrics. It was a good moment for 2020 and one that should be remembered.

83. Turks feat. Travis Scott - NAV & Gunna

NAV is so hit or miss. This was a hit. The 3 combo'd together for YOSEMITE, which is my favorite song ever, and they didn't disappoint on this one. I don't remember too many lyrics for this song, but it's a great party/kickback song that goes right along with the vibe.

82. BS feat. H.E.R. - Jhene Aiko

Jhene proclaims her street title as the Female Future letting you know what's going on exactly. She and H.E.R. are back up on they bull shit and back up on the scene. It's a fun, 2020 version of an independent song done with class, and that's been missing from the new age female R&B scene.

81. Gang Gang - Jackboys

Travis and the Jackboys finished 2019 with a bang and GANG GANG started the works. Sheck Wes sets the tone early and the grime, weird Houston, Texas boys Don Toliver and Trav take off and star on this one. The whole squad really did go up on this one.

80. We Should feat. Young Thug - Lil' Baby

Thug put his self one hell of a year full of features and "We Should" is one of those highlight moments. Both rappers put their melodic skills to the test, and both did an outstanding job. Lil' Baby sounded as clear as he has probably in his career. It's a slower feel from both of them and I appreciated it.

79. The Blinding feat. Travis Scott - Jay Electronica

This is vintage Swizz Beatz and Jay and Electronica waste absolutely no time putting their feet in it's ass. Soon as I heard "the Dove you heard Prince Sing about" my simple ass was sold. I feel like krumping every time this thing takes off. I could do without the second part, another 16 from both of them on the Swizz beat me please.

78. Got It On Me - Pop Smoke

The rawest and most ironic song on Smoke's album. The song is about having it on him, but in real life I don't know if he had it on him. Anyway, I can see why 50 Cent took it personal and helped produced his album posthumously because there are a lot of similarities in their sounds.

77. Nobody's Love - Maroon 5

Bald Levine everyone. Maroon 5 has such a soulful feel to them. Levine croon is just different so anytime him and the boys decide to just make a random record better believe it's gonna be solid. The drums come in perfect on the second verse and the simple lyrics are just classic Maroon 5.

76. Muwop feat. Gucci Mane - Mulatto

It's as if the universe took Faith Evans respawned her in 2020 and gave her ass and Lil' Kim's mentality. This song could do no wrong. Freaky Girl was already hard, so the beat makes you move on its own. Mulatto's got a presence about her in that booth, and she feels confident as hell rapping. Gucci gives us Freaky Girl Part 2 when he comes in and rips his verse all over again. Definitely a highlight for both stars.

75. Whole Lotta Choppas - Sada Baby

I'm not a gimmick rap fan, but Whole Lotta Choppas did have its moment in 2020. I was never really a fan of this song, I thought it was stupid, and then I heard it at the right place at the right time. The up-tempo is a plus. It makes people move and, when you're on the scene that's the most important thing. Of course you've got to have a gun reference, or are you even rapping?

74. F*** The World (Summer In London) - Brent Faiyaz

Best song on the album. Tryna "fuck the world, I'm a walking erection." The beat is similar to Rehab, but the voice change and bars are what sell me. It creates a vibe. A certified way of knowing you have a smash record is if I look up the instrumental and still hear the artists' flow over the beat. This was Brent's strongest showing from 2020.

73. - Savage Remix feat. Beyonce

I'm not the biggest fan of Meg, but too ignore her place in 2020's music is a crime. Beyonce' is a rapper, rapper. She has not held back since she decided to go rogue in about 2013 with her content. They're two bad ass women with outstanding bodies who have no problem talking about it. I'm just not a believer in Meg's words though. It's a good song though. Whatever.

72. Not You Too feat. Chris Brown - Drake

Not quite "No Guidance," but yet it's still a great listen. The song grew on me as the year continued. Drake will flip the script at the very end of his songs and start a really catchy flow as the song is going off.

"Thought I knew the real, then they flipped
How many times did I ask about this, on God?
Why you let me find out like this, on God?
Houston, we got a problem, my dawg
All my niggas love you, got us all involved
Ain't no going back to how we started off"

71. Money Maker feat. Lil Wayne - 2 Chainz

I'm a sucker for band music, especially fun SWAC type band music. Chainz enlists The Human Jukebox from Southern University to play "Piece of My Love" and it's a fun loop that is a highlight for Chainz and Collegrove.

70. Landed - Drake

Drake switches gears on the mixtape and gives us a "Hype" type of flow where he just jumps on the beat and lets it rip. Of course pushing 5 Cadillacs like a politician got my attention and who doesn't love a good Scottie Pippen mention right?

69. Don Life feat. Lil Wayne - Big Sean

Human Nature is a classic; one that's been touched many of times, so if you're going to use it you better kill it.  The beat is executed to perfection, and you get two solid verses from Sean and Wayne. Definitely a highlight for the album, and every time you get a good verse from Wayne these days you've got to appreciate it.

68. Diamonds - Sam Smith

I don't venture into Sam Smith's music on purpose. The only way I'll randomly hear him is when I'm at a restaurant or if my aux cord gets snatched out and the radio pops on for that quick second. Nonetheless, I can not deny good music. The boy is talented. I'm not gonna call him the Elton John of this generation, (as many gay people there are in this culture, there's no need to highlight it) but he's as talented a singer as I've heard.

67. Why Would I Stop - Big Sean

The first and best song off Detroit 2, "Why Would I Stop" proposes just that exact question. It'd been bout 3 years of distance in between Sean's last album, and after a couple of flopped singles, Big Sean had to deal with doubt and naysayers. He flexes his rap skills, switching styles. He basically let everybody know, "Hey, Idk why y'all sleep, but here's who I am."

66. Dollaz On My Head feat. Young Thug - Gunna

"I been getting it since a toddler, I keep dollaz on my head." There ain't too many people that can rap about something that not too many people can relate to and we still love it. Gunna's style is a mores relaxed Young Thug, but both use melodies and smooth beats to croon to and vib(c)e out.

65. Lion King on Ice - J. Cole

This song is the lesser of the 2 of the summer pack Cole dropped on us, but it grows and gets better with each listen. Cole steadily drops bars about his longevity and consistency and how these young rappers come and go. The title is a clever shout to his new watch, a materialistic line Cole usually doesn't showcase. Great song.

64. Keep On Drinkin' - Sosa

The first track of her Post Grad EP is an alcohol anthem. Problems, meh! What're those!? Give me some more tequila and everything will be just fine. As party as soul can get, Keep On Drinkin', kept on playing from my phone.

63. Toosie Slide - Drake

In an attempt to make the biggest Tik Tok song of the year, Drake ended up making one of the catchiest. I don't think Toosie Slide took off as a Tik Tok Dance song like expected, but it took off on the radio waves and streams because it's actually a good song. If you can get past the cheesiness of the dance lines, Drake is spitting.

62. Dragonball Durag - Thundercat

There's not another song that sounds like this gem. This is R&B, Soul, 80's, elevator music all wrapped up into one. Sounds like something in the Donald Glover realm of the world, but Thundercat jumps all over this track and leaves his mark on the year.

61. WHAT'S POPPIN - Jack Harlow

Probably the best cypher beat of the year. Idk how you listen to this and not try not to get your own bars off when listening. Honestly I don't remember too many bars from this song so this position on this list is almost totally because of the beat.

60. Second Emotion feat. Travis Scott - Justin Bieber

Biebs put out a good album this year and Second Emotion is one of the brightest highlights from Changes. He gets the big assist from the hype machine that is Travis Scott. The beat is up-tempo, the singing sounds great and Trav gives a B- verse.

59. ETA - Justin Bieber

Where was this song when I was single.... Girl I'm tryna know when you getting here, cause low key I'm kinda sleepy and if you don't give me a time you can stay where you at. Nah, that's not what the song is about, but it'd be if were my version. But yeah, Bieber needs to know the estimated time of arrival cause he tired of waiting on you.

58. SoIcyBoyz 2 - 1017

The new 1017 lit the new compilation album up from the jump with SoIcyBoyz 2. I'm typically not a fan of piggy back bars, but they wasted no time and jumped all over this track. I can't tell you who's who, but all of em came with something for this one.

57. Prices - Lil Uzi Vert

Lil Uzi came out with a strong album this year and the star of the show was "Prices." He travelled to outer space and came back a sample from Travis Scott's "Way Back." Between the beat and "I just went up on my price!" this song was destined for greatness.

56. H.O.E. feat. Miguel and Future - Jhene

The female Future hooked up with the real Future and made a song called H.O.E. This is 2020. The song's not nearly as terrible as the title projects, Jhene and Miguel just let you know that they're choosing happiness over everything. That could mean any and everything, but this is who we are right? Smh.

55. WAP - Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion

I know 50. Everybody's favorite song from this year is just merely number 50, but I couldn't stand it. Female rap all just sounds like a gimmick to me. I love Cardi. I believe every word that's coming out of her freaky ass mouth. It's "Thee" Stallion for me. I loved Big Ole' Freak, but there hasn't been too much else from Meg that I just care for. I really can't pinpoint what it is that doesn't stick for me.

54. Bankroll - Rich the Kid and Youngboy Never Broke Again

Youngboy firmly placed his self in contention as Artist of  the Year because the boy never stops releasing music. He works with a wide variety of artists and has a lot of different styles. The style on this song is my preference. It's a melodic rap filled with memorable quotes, like "walk on stage with a whole lotta water on me, it's a whole lotta drip on me."

53. Body Language feat. Jhene Aiko and Ty Dolla $ign

Love it when Sean and Aiko get together on a song. They've got outstanding chemistry musically and it shines through this one. King of the hook Ty Dolla does his best with this one and this song to me is a slept on jam.

52. We Paid feat. 42 Dugg

The latter of the 2 major smashes from these two this year. Dugg unique whistle and voice meshes well with Baby as they trade bars back and forth representing their home cities Detroit and Atlanta. The song was a highlight for both of them this year.

51. Lemonade feat. NAV, Don Toliver and Gunna - Internet Money

"Xanny bars suicide doors brand new bag ....... Off the Juice! Codeine got me tripping!" Don Toliver feels like Trav's lit little brother. His voice brings energy and NAV and Gunna are melodic geniuses over beats. This was a fun record and one that'll stay around in my rotation for awhile.

50. Too Comfortable - Future

Future makes anthems. This one is definitely for the fellas. He flexes his playa pimp lifestyle letting all is hoes know it's not a good idea to get comfortable. Future croons to all of our inner pimps on the inside. This one made my backhand strong.

49. Hollywood feat. Lil Twist - Camp Nowhere

Longview's own Camp makes his second entrance on my top 100 with Hollywood. Hollywood is just way too cool and Twist sets the tone with a dope verse after the opening chorus. The production is crazy and the singing over the track makes me bob my head to it every time. Camp's verse is hard,  as soon as I heard "how can you handle this pressure?" I knew he was going in.

48. Need It feat. Youngboy Never Broke Again - Migos

One of the more fun songs of the year, the "Get In My Car" sample is so hard and Youngboy and Migos jump all over this beat. It didn't really have tremendous lasting power, maybe because Youngboy puts out so much music, but nonetheless this was a fun moment and a song I appreciated in 2020.

47. Wunna - Gunna

Gunna made a strong case for Artist of the Year and it all started with this one. This song was the perfect single for what was coming with the album Wunna. The song has a darker beat, Gunna's voice is deeper than usual, his words are clear. He really came to get on some ass in 2020 and this set the tone.

46. Nasty Girl/Camera - Gunna

Production has been, is, and will always be everything. The beat carries this song, and Gunna jumps on the wave and lets it guide him to greatness. The B side Camera is just as good. I always wonder what the motivation is for songs.....

45. Red Eye - Youngboy Never Broke Again

Youngboy is a talented mf man. There's a reason why he can drop 60 songs a year and people not get tired of his material. I'm not the biggest YB fan in the world, but when the young man has a hit, he has a hit. Red Eye he belches out vocals and you can tell he's coming from a sincere place with his song.

44. The Climb Back - J. Cole

"I'm back outside." Out of the shadows, J. Cole came and dropped bars. I knew it was over when I heard I'm back outside throughout the chorus. Cole has endless bars for you boys with no purpose. Story telling at it's finest with purpose and intent to motivate and speak for the voices without a voice. Everybody's got the suicidal hotline, but what about my niggas that wanna commit a homicide? "NEED A NUMBER FOR MY NIGGAS TO CALL WHENEVER THERE'S AN URGE TO GET TRIGGERS INVOLVED!" Cole is a Goat.

43. Serial Lover - Kehlani

In the best way possible, this felt like a Drake record. From the beat to the lyrics I felt as if it were a Drizzy song. Aubrey didn't get credit for an assist, but he did inspire the title of the album. Maybe I'm giving the guy to much credit, nonetheless a great song.

42. 4TE (Freestyle) - Lil Pete

For the second year in a row Lil Pete has dropped a song of the year candidate. Last year was No Vivica, this year he gets the assist again from Yung G and even more help with Sweets and A-Gotti. The 4 traded bars back and forth over a dope beat, and this one is in contention for song of the year in Longview.

41. Yummy - Justin Bieber

From the first listen I didn't wanna enjoy it, but I couldn't deny myself. This song is totally candy, ear-appeasing music with no substance, but don't we love candy. The beat is catchy, the bass is necessary. The lyrics were cool and it was executed well. Maybe there is Bieber exhaustion, but I'm not sure if Changes got the due it was deserved.

40. EastCide Dream - Yung G

G enlist great help on the chorus of this song and it's probably the reason why the song took off more than any other song. G can slap spit, but the chorus is so sing-along-able that you can help but to love this joint.

39. Tyler Herro - Jack Harlow

So I whiffed on Jack Harlow. It took a good friend to tell me to just give it a try, cuz I've got this thing with white rappers. I wasn't all the way sold by What's Poppin, but when Tyler Herro dropped I was like "ok, young man." By no means am I calling Herro Drake, but he's definitely the product of being 12 years old when Drizzy first dropped. On his newest album Herro sounds like an OVO protégé, sometimes not the best thing, but often a really, really good thing.

38. Ride - Sosa

The overwhelming favorite from Post Grad, Sosa absolutely kills this joint. Her voice is her strongest talent and she fully embraces it. The song isn't confusing with over complicated lyrics, she just basically letting you know that "it's time for me to get in my shit and Ride."

37. For the Night feat. Lil' Baby and Da Baby - Pop Smoke

Lil' Baby will probably be my Artist of the Year after composing this list, because he jumped on so many tracks, not too many better this one though. Pop Smoke's voice is smooth as hell, so the vibe from the beat and the vocal set the oven to preheat, while the "Babys" went and cooked. 2 stellar guests verses and a really strong summer joint.

36. Borderline - Brandy

Brandy had me shook from the first beat drop and croons. This video popped up on YouTube during     quarantine and I'm so thankful I let it play. This is 90's R&B in 2020 and it's wonderful. It's the closest thing to vintage Brandy, but there's a lot of season on what I'm hearing from her. The vulnerability in the lyrics, the honesty.... it's appreciated.

35. Creature feat. Swae Lee - Pop Smoke

Swae Lee is starting to grow on me in a similar fashion as Young Thug. I was very skeptical at first and then I heard Black Beatles and I've been hooked since. Swae's the first voice you hear on the song and he crashes it so hard I think it's his song. He has a talent of saying nothing, but is so talented with his melody that it works anyway. Hey it's 2020, production is everything.

34. Rockstar feat. Roddy Rich - Da Baby

Da Baby fatigue set in towards the end of 2019. I had played the shit out of Bop and Vibez and right when I was at the point of being done with the guy he released Rockstar with Roddy Rich and kept me intrigued. The guitar mixed in perfectly with the beat and Da Baby comes in and gives us the smooth version. The two released a Black Lives Matter of the song around the BET Awards, which gave it more points at the end of the day for me.

33. Emotionally Scarred - Lil Baby

This wasn't the most played song off of My Turn for me, but it was probably the best song off the album. Rappers flaunt. They pop shit. They talk about how lavish they are and the means and things they've done to pull off some of the lavish things. From the title alone you could tell Baby is getting ready to open up and does just that.

"A love letter came through the mail, it said, "I miss you"
I ripped it up and flushed with the tissue, try to forget you
I ain't got nothing against you, we human, we all got issues"

He doesn't waste anytime setting the tone of this song, and for the vulnerability and truth, it's appreciated.

32. Desires feat. Future - Drake

This song could've been top 10. The two legends had a Soundcloud version of this song out for the longest and when it finally hit Apple Music it was confirmed for me. I'm a bougie listener. If something is on Soundcloud I'll listen to it, but it won't be legit til I can download it on my phone.
"Self control has never been your thing. Don't think it'll help if there's a ring with a rock in it." The lean with it rock with it lingo was dope and still is a highlight of it. Of course when your home state is mentioned you always enjoy that: "Katy, Texas, Dallas, Texas you know a different environment."

31. 12.38 feat. 21 Savage, Ink, and Kadjha Bonet - Childish Gambino

Gambino is super cool and this song is super cool. He tells an interesting story of a date between him and one of his flings. It's a cool time and story, one that you would only expect someone of his cool/weirdness like a Prince to be able to pull off. The song feels like it's about to end, but out of the abyss of nowhere 21 Savage comes through.

"Drop it off, lemme see if yo' booty soft."

I was sold from there on out. 21 is such a hit or miss kinda guy. When he hit's it's on, when he misses it's way off. This was a hit.

30. Laugh Now Cry Later feat. Lil Durk - Drake

Goat Man, Goat Man yea that's him! Had to steal Haha and Uncle Shay Shay's quote to describe Drizzy. At this point in his career Drake can't miss. It seems like it's a lot of pressure from the outside looking in. People can't wait for him to fall off, some eve lie and say that he has. That's the furthest thing from the truth and Laugh Now, Cry Later is the proof. Lil' Durk has been on the rap scene for a while, but if you're not a street rap listener, you were probably unfamiliar with him. This was a coming out party for Durk, and he made it quite cool to be a lineman, "I'm in the trenches relax."

29. Critical Condition feat. YFN Lucci - Jackboy

I heard this one courtesy of Jon Writt. Headed back from Shreveport, he played this joint and I was hooked ever since. Jackboy is out of the Kodak camp and Critical Condition was a coming out party for him. I didn't venture into much of any of his other works from the album, but this was the surprise song of the year.

28. Snowchild

The Weeknd is the hardest Pop star in the world. He flat out spits over this track and the vibe is so Toronto it makes no sense.

"Taking care of families for my brothers when they locked up
And I had nothing to believe in
Double cup leaning
Couldn't even breathe, and
For that money, I was fiending
Cali was the mission, but now a nigga leaving"
BARS.
27. From Florida With Love - Drake

"PLUG!" Writing this from Florida with Love, when  I linked with Mexiko, I knew I found a plug. Mexiko is of course the producer, and like I've said many times before, Production is everything. This song isn't gonna be referenced as one of the great Drizzy songs, but man is it an easy listen, and fits damn near every location to play it. Covid has eliminated big outings for me, so songs like this in intimate settings with 6 or 7 friends around always jam.

26. Accepting My Flaws - Future

One of the few times Future makes his mind up to give you unlimited bars. From the time he begins to the time he ends it, Future talks big talk and between the dramatic beat and slick talk he's gotta hit.

25. High Fashion feat. DJ Mustard - Roddy Rich

Roddy released in December of 2019 and dominated 2020 with about 3 songs. Start wit Me, High Fashion and the Box dominated waves this year. High Fashion got the DJ Mustard assist, and while simple the song is of super quality. One of those kickback songs that appeases everyone in ithe room.

24. Chicago Freestyle feat. Giveon - Drake

Drake has the best serious toned rap songs. He's a versatile guy that can wear many hats, Chicago is just more proof of that. He's a student of the game, the Eminem sample shows that. This is Take Care, Views, dark Drake. Not evil, but definitely what earned his "emo-rap" label back in 2011.

23. When To Say When - Drake

It's only appropriate these two songs stand next to each other. Drake released the 2 in a 2 pack early in the year and When to Say When is the harder of the 2. Honestly Song Cry has been ripped by lots of artists, many goats, so it's only right Drizzy took his shot at it too right.

22. Sum 2 Prove - Lil Baby

Early in the year I did a podcast with Pria and said Lil' Baby is the guy to watch in 2020. Like a week later Baby dropped Sum 2 Prove made me look like a prophet. The first single off of My Turn, Baby put everybody on notice in January and let them know it was going to be a very long year for you if you were trying to keep up with him.

21. Grace feat. 42 Dugg - Lil Baby

Hard. This song came out before We Paid, so in the two Baby and 42 Dugg songs I'm rolling with this one. The tone of the song is serious. The use of Grace and calling upon God was cool. The video is slightly blasphemous, but that's just the down home church in me coming out. Dugg takes control of the song before the beat even drops. Between that and the whistle the song is guaranteed to win you over soon as the beat comes on. "I done hit more shit than Mike Tyson." That's a lotta hits. Lil' Baby at this point is probably Artist of the Year based off this list.

20. That's It - Future and Lil Uzi Vert

Future is a hit or miss kinda guy. Well his career average is about .600. He doesn't miss. He and Uzi jump all over this track and we pretty much get lost in the beat and Future's vocalizations that nothing else matters too much.
19. Cooler Than a Bitch feat. Roddy Rich - Gunna

Roddy Rich has become one of the new hot things in music, because nearly everyone is starting to reach out to him for a feature. Gunna of course is the best rap melodic prodigy of Young Thug, so it's no surprise these 2 produced a jam. I listened to song probably 4 times in a row after I first heard it. The beat is so fun, and these two voices know how to keep a good time rolling.

18. Many Men - 21 Savage and Metro Boomin'

I was hooked from the beat warming up. Like I said earlier, 21 Savage either hits or misses. This is a definite hit. Metro is so talented. His background story with his music makes me want to listen every time he drops a project. Savage Mode 1, and Not All Heroes Wear Capes in 2018, has put total faith in Metro and so he's getting an automatic listen whenever he does a joint project. Metro's the best and him 21 have a great relationship to where they can produce great music.

17. Met Gala - Gunna

For a second I thought this might've been the song of the year. Gunna is so smooth and Met Gala is the epitome of his smoothness. From the beginning Gunna waste no time with the hood serenates:

"It's easy to slip, don't want you to fall
I drip on this bitch like Met Gala, ballin'
Answer her texts, don't answer her calls
Yeah, she sent me a text, won't answer her call
She love when I flex and shop in the mall
Relieving her stress, I beat down her walls
Skeet-skeet on her chest, she kissin' my balls
We speed in that 'Vette, don't stop for the laws
VVs on my neck, I shine in the dark
It's easy to slip, don't want you to fall
Walk in with the drip, that Met Gala Ball "

For the umpteenth time, Production is everything. Between the beat and Gunna this song had no choice but to be a hit.

16. Life is Good Remix

It's seldom that the remix goes as hard as the original, but this is the case for the Life Is Good Remix. Future takes off from the jump, spitting over Drake's original part with a whole new verse. He talks that big talk like he always does, and absolutely kills the beginning. The "Baby's" came through and left their verses enflamed to the faster second half o the song. Da Baby has the best guest feature, but that doesn't mean Lil Baby's verse is one to sneeze at.

15. Greece feat. Drake - DJ Khaled

Once you get past the Weeknd voice button on this one, this is a dope song. I'm a Drake fan, so it was definitely gonna get more than just the initial spin, but I was upset at first. But I got over that, quickly. One of the things that makes us like Drake is that he's relatable. Well this is not one of those songs.

"Come with me, leave all of your things, yeah
We can stop at Gucci, stop at Louis V, yeah
Come with me, fly you out to Greece
Full speed, survoler Paris, yeah"

Definitely some rapper shit. Mans took a woman to Greece in his private plane and told her don't pack we'll just by out Gucci and Louis. He doesn't stop with the shit popping either.

"Speedboats, baby, in Nikki Beach
Waves in my ears, smokin' weed (oui, oui)
Whippin' through the sand in a Jeep (oui, oui)
All because of what I did on beats, baby"

He worked hard for his success. Don't hate, just watch him enjoy it.

14. Blinding Lights - The Weeknd

You can totally thank 2K for this song being on this list. I ignored it completely for 10 months out of the year. I definitely judged the book by it's cover. I thought it was just another coked out song from The Weeknd. And while it is a shout to Scarface and the 80's Cocaine movement, The Weeknd makes it completely his. It feels like this song takes place during the club scene in Scarface and I played the shit out of it.

13. Escape From LA

The closest thing vocally to Michael Jackson. The content is so different from what Michael would've put out, but the way The Weeknd can jump octaves is very Mike Like. The Weeknd had possible the best album of 2020, shout out to the Grammy's though.

12. Lost One - Jazmine Sullivan

The most beautiful break up song of the year. The song just aches and pulls at my heart. There's so much love, pain and understanding in Jazmine's voice. The lack of production is amazing. Just the simple acoustic rift and the lack of polish on her voice creates a gritty feel that's perfect for the lyrics. There's hope and despair in her voice at the same time. She's cold.

11. Argentina - Gunna

Wunna started with Argentina, and I couldn't pick a better song to lead an album off with. The guitar starts the album and it's so appropriate for Gunna's style. Argentina just like Wunna is incredible. If you're not a fan of Gunna I can't convince you, but if you enjoy Gunna you know exactly what I'm saying smh.

10. Rich N**** S*** - Metro Boomin and 21 Savage

Production is everything. 21 hits another home run. This is one of the best songs of the year. The saxophone is incredible in this one. Metro is the star of the two in this one, because this production is simply amazing. This is definitely the beat that needs to play in a Black Starbucks. It's classy as hell. All 21 has to do is not come in and fuck it up. Job well done.

9. What to Do? - Jackboys

I heard this joint in the strip club and I'll forever be indebted to the white girl that was doing her thing to this one. Something about the environment where you hear the song makes all the difference in the world. To be in the club, to hear the song clearly and as loud as the artists and producer wanted you to hear it, it's amazing. I'm already a huge Travis Scott fan, so to be surprised by good music out of nowhere was incredible.

8. One Watch feat. Young Thug - Gunna

Already blown away by the original version, Gunna dropped the Deluxe Pack and I was fired up all over again. Add Young Thug to the mix with another hype beat and you've got yourself a helluva song. Thug jumps all over the track from the beginning, almost felt like it was song. Gunna comes in and keep the flow right at the same level. It's probably 3 of the most entertaining minutes of your life.

7. The Box - Roddy Rich

Released in December 2019, Roddy dominated the early parts of 2020 with The Box. So much that the eeeeeeeee urrrrrrrrr worked every nerve I had by the end of February. Nonetheless The Box is one of the hardest songs of 2020 and finds its self here inside the top 10. The song is really one of a kind, and makes total sense for it to dominate the way that it did. The biggest hit of Roddy's career was one of the best of the year.

6. Pain 1993 feat. Playboi Carti

A smooth beat where Drake talks that talk.

"Niggas ain't gotta respect
Niggas just gotta accept
I put that top left"

Regardless if you respect, you got accept that Drake is the top dog right now and probably the goat. A delicate shout to the Raptors with the Kawhi reference, new Mansion in Turks, I think every guy relates to if she bringin 4 friends, I know I'll hit at least one line. I mean out of the 5 of em I can get one of em right! Most I've heard talk about Carti's voice say they hate it. I loved it. It was different and it gave the song an interesting twist.

5. House Arrest Tingz - Youngboy NeverBrokeAgain

This was song of the year for a long time for me. From the beat to the verse Youngboy was all over this track. It was definitely the surprise of the year for me. Youngboy can sing, ok Youngboy can melodize. Either way he knows how to make his self sound good on songs, and it's appreciated for sure.
4. Go Crazy - Chris Brown and Young Thug

The production is amazing. Both guys killed their verses. The chorus is fun and easy to remember. This is the perfect makings of a great Slime & B song, and that's just what we got. This song never got old throughout the year, and it's the answer CB needed to No Guidance in 2019. Another banging track and Thug let's everyone know that he's been overseas going crazy! Idk why that line sticks out in my head, but what a great song.

3. Time Flies - Drake

The best song from Drake this year. The same flow from Scorpion "That's How You Feel," Drake dials up the flow that was so good to him earlier. This time, same results. "All my niggas round me ride or die." That line means so much when you can say it and believe it. The end of the song is the most epic. We get one of those Drake breakdowns at the end. This is truly Drake at his best. Feels like home. Drop Certified Lover Boy please, sir.

2. Life is Good feat. Drake - Future

After years of dominance, you look up at Superstars and all of a sudden their 35. We've been watching Drake and Future since 2009 and they've been dominating the game for so long. You look up, it's 2020 and the same two guys I was bumping in 2011, Pluto and Take Care, are still doing it at  impressive rate. Life is Good came out January 10th and nobody blinks in December when it comes on the radio. The song never fell off to me. If anything the remix gave the original song more life as hard as Future and "The Baby's" went on it. Drake and Future are both in GOAT forms on their verses and they sit back and make you say "What A Time To Be Alive."

1. Dirty Diana - Gunna

It's the everything for me. The chorus, the verse, the beat. They're all like 10 out of 10. The song is only 2:10 which makes me rewind over and over and over again. It's gotta calmer Sold Out Dates feel to it, which was my favorite song by Gunna and Lil' Baby when I heard it. The shit is too good. "Bitch so sexy I fuck without a condom." Hence Brauden.
