Top 10 Gilmer Buckeyes Receivers since 2000

Gilmer has been a spread football team since the days of Jeff Traylor in 2001. They've had so many receivers, how do you limit it to just 10? ..... Like This

10. Desmond Pollard

Years: 2013
College: N/a

Pollard was a dynamic receiver for the Buckeyes in 2013 that tragically passed away while hooping at a park in the offseason. He had a big junior year catching 49 passes for 958 yards and 15 touchdowns. At 6'2 180, Pollard was destined for D1 Football, but unfortunately never got the opportunity.

9. Chase Tate
Years: 2012-15
College: Texas A&M Commerce

Tate was a 4 year letterman who amassed 161 catches for 2,072 career yards and 15 touchdowns during that time. At 5'7 135 pounds, Tate was the ultimate slot, who also rushed for 1,439 yards and 11 touchdowns during his career as well. As a senior he was named 2nd Team All-East Texas as a punt returner.

8. Kevin Hollis

Years: 2003-2004
College: Kansas State

Kevin Hollis was a 2 way star for the Buckeyes' during great times to be a Buckeye. As a senior Hollis led the team in catches in 2004 with 80. He was 2nd on the team in receiving yards with 988 and first on the team with 13 touchdowns. Hollis and Manuel Johnson helped lead the Buckeyes to a State Championship in 2004.

7. Houston Tuminello
Years: 2007
College: Louisiana Tech

One of the best players to ever suit up for the Buckeyes' did it for just one season. Tuminello spent his time at 3 different high schools, but was a baller at each and every single one of them. In 2007, Tuminello caught 73 passes for 1,018 yards and 15 touchdowns. A first team All East Texas selection at Canton in 05, he repeated that effort in 2007 at Gilmer.

6. Tay Bowser

Years: 2004
College: Oklahoma State

Bowser was 2nd on the team in receptions in 2004, but he was first on the team in receiving yards for the State Champion Buckeyes. Bowser made 47 catches for 1,120 yards and 12 touchdowns, but showed up huge in the playoffs with 2 bombs against Tatum in the quaterfinals and had the game winning catch against Jasper in the State Championship game. His 1,120 yards rank 4th All-Time for yards in a season, and what makes even more impressive is that it happened in 2004, where teams didn't pass as much as they do now.

5. LaMarcus Morton

Years: 2015-16
College: Oklahoma State

Recruited as a DB, Morton showed potential on both sides of the ball as a Buckeye. As a sophomore and junior, Morton flashed his offensive prowess with a slight 8 catches for 151 yards and a touchdown to 34 catches for 589 yards and 7 touchdowns. His senior year, Morton exploded. He caught 67 passes for 1,368 yards and 15 touchdowns. For a career, Morton had 109 catches for 2,108 receiving yards and 23 touchdowns.

4. Dylan Fluellen

Years: 2018-20
College: Northwestern State

Dylan Fluellen was simply a productive member of the team as a sophomore and junior. He caught 37 passes as a sophomore for 553 yards and 3 touchdowns. His junior year he caught 40 passes for 669 yards and 6 touchdowns. As a senior Fluellen set records. He caught 60 passes for 1,141 yards and 18 touchdowns (1st All Time.) His 177 career catches stand 1st All Time. His 2,363 yards places him 2nd All Time.

3. Rohan Fluellen

Years: 2020-22
College: TCU

A 3 year letterman who emerged as a trustworthy option his sophomore year, Rohan Fluellen has been a great over the course of the last 3 seasons. A player who shined all over the field at different positions, Rohan's first niche was receiver. As a sophomore he had a 67 catch 965 yard 7 touchdown performance. As a junior, Fluellen had his largest year production wise. He went for 88 catches 1,420 yards and 11 touchdowns in back to back state title runner up runs. As a senior, Fluellen played with the younger Tennison brother, but after an injury he slid over to play QB himself. Nonetheless, Rohan finished with 57 touches, 665 yards and 9 touchdowns. For a career, Rohan finished with 186 catches, 2,855 yards and 28 touchdowns, all Gilmer records.

2. Curtis Brown

Years: 2004-06
College: Texas

A high school All-American corner, an All Big 12 corner, and an eventual NFL cornerback, yet Curtis Brown sits here at 2 at wide receiver. Brown was the biggest recruit of the '07 class in East Texas as a corner, but his receiving and rushing numbers are ridiculous. As a sophomore Brown burst onto the scene as a starting corner on the 2004 state championship team, but too contributed on offense having 16 receptions for 239 yards and a touchdown and 15 carries for 104 yards and a touchdown. His offensive involvement grew as a junior bringing in District MVP catching 63 passes for 974 yards and 10 touchdowns, while recording 47 carries for 750 yards and eight touchdowns. 2006 was a big disappointment for Brown and the Buckeyes, but Curtis still got his numbers. Through 11 games Brown made 40 receptions for 970 yards and 14 touchdowns while recording 16 carries for 168 yards and a touchdown. For his career, Brown had 119 receptions for 2,183 yards and 25 touchdowns and ran for another 1,022 yards and 10 touchdowns.

1. Manuel Johnson

Year: 2002-04
College: Oklahoma

Manuel Johnson quarterbacked Gilmer to perfection in 2004, but in 2002 he caught 4 touchdown passes in his first varsity action. In 2003, he went off. At 6-3 190, Johnson, caught 79 passes for 1,401 yards (1st All Time) and his 13 touchdowns was a school record at the time. A monster after the catch, Johnson's RAC ability made him impossible to stop.
