I love Smoaky. He's one of the main inspirations of the type of journalism I love to produce. I remember as early as I could get on the internet at home I'd be in the Smoaky forums reading post and religiously looking at Smoaky's All East-Texas Teams. In it's early days, if you were mentioned by Smoaky it was a compliment. These days though, it's way too inclusive for me. In 2003, Stephen Hodge was First Team Quarterback. Just him. In 2022, there were 3 First Team Quarterbacks. The inclusiveness is driving me crazy. So instead of 21 first team offensive players, this "All-Pro" style list will feature just 11 offensive guys, and instead of 16 first team defensive players, just 11 defensive guys.
