The Top 100 Songs of 2024

Every year I keep a watch list of the best songs that I've heard that year. Out of those songs, I make my selections for the Top 100 Songs of that year. This is year 5, and each year is an absolute blast to put together. The main motivation is for my kid to see this one day and know exactly who I was at each age. So here's to 2024 and the singing and beef that was this year.

100. 2AM

Artist: BigXthaPlug
Album: TAKE CARE

Ayyeee... From the sample this was a guarantee to make the list. Hearing Mr. Biggs, a story telling icon, was only appropriate to this trip inside of BigX's head and this dream. We all love a good cheating scandal, especially when the woman does it. It felt kinda cheap at the end to find out this was a dream, but the sample and beat does enough to save the song and end up on the top 100.

99. We Still Don't Trust You feat. The Weeknd

Artist: Future and Metro Boomin'
Album: WE STILL DON'T TRUST YOU

Part II of the initial Beef starter for 2024, outside of Katt Williams on SHA SHA, Metro and Future give the RnB version of their distrust of a certain individual. The song starts off with a funky 80's pop beat, with a clear cut message, WE STILL DON'T TRUST YOU. Future croons as it his best, The Weeknd provides bomb backgrounds and a killer bridge, and Metro shines in the production. One of the many bright spots from their RnB WE STILL DON'T TRUST YOU album.

98. Here We Go (Uh Oh)

Artist: CoCO Jones
Album: Here We Go Single

The "Cause I love You" Sample is a bold move for a 2024 sample, but when you've got the talent CoCo Jones has you can take those types of risk. Jennifer Hudson, Coco shows her skill set effortlessly working through her verses and bringing it home strong every time on the chorus. It's a bright spot in her career, and another strong single, now we just need a complete album.
97. act v: there goes another vase

Artist: 4batz
Album: u made me a st4r

4batz made his premier this year, and honestly everybody thought he was AI. The voice sounds mad computerish and they lyrics of date @ 8 felt like something a trap chat GPT could cook up. Here comes the album in May, and you know what, the boy put on. It really slaps and is one of the 2 standouts to make it from the album.

96. Drink Don't Need No Mix

Artist: Shaboozey & BigXthaPlug
Album: Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going

One of the best albums of the year, Shaboozey worked clean in his country debut. Drink Don't Need No Mix is a great song with a great beat, a great adlib from BixX and a great message: That drink don't no mix. Scraight Whiskey for Boozey and Tequila for X.

95. back in the a

Artist: Gunna
Album: One of Wun

back in the a is immediately after on one tonight and the two are probably the best back to back song tandems on the album. It's a little slower than its predecessor, but none the less it's still uptempo type vibe, just like all classic Gunna. Gunna isn't known for extravagant lyrics, and there aren't any life changing bars in this one either. The production on this song, just like the rest of the album, is immaculate. Check out the vibes.

94. Fall Back

Artist: Lithe
Album: Fall Back Single

One of the songs that reflects exactly where we are in music in 2024. A banging beat, some mumbling lyrics, and 120 seconds of a good time. If i didn't have the lyrics on my phone I wouldn't know what Lithe is saying, much like I don't know how to pronounce his name. I came across this one courtesy of the JBP, and the vibes off of this one lasted throughout the year.

93. Gangsta

Artist: Tems
Album: Born In the Wild

Gangsta is as fun as a Tems song is getting. The beat is worthy of a head bob, and Tems flow is immaculate. She's on top of the beat with her pace, and her background vocals and singing is worth it's weight in gold. This song is easily repeatable because of length and vibe and is well worth your time.
92. R e a l W o m a n

Artist: PARTYNEXTDOOR
ALBUM: PARTYNEXTDOOR 4 (P4)

A newer yet same yet refreshing sound from a veteran in emo rnb. You can definitely tell P is apart of the OVO CAmp. The beat, lyrics, vibe and flow screams 40 and OVO, and it should be no surprise to see Noah "40" Shebib in the credits as a writer. It feels Viewish and if you know me, that's one of my favorite Drake albums. Solid work from the boy.

91. Bad For You feat. Jazmine Sullivan

Artist: Wizkid
Album: Morayo

Bout time we heard something from Wizkid. Essence was one of the biggest bangers of 2021, and other than features, we hadn't heard from the guy since. He came out with an album late in November, but when you bring in Jazmine Sullivan for an assist, I'm all ears. There ain't a better voice in music than Jazmine Sullivan and she absolutely owns the chorus of this song. It's Wizkid so you know the beat will jump and the African vibes will be in attendance.

90. WHATCHU KNO ABOUT ME

Artist: Glorilla & Sexyy Red
Album: Glorious

The unofficial, official Wipe me down remix features a true star from 2024 in Glorilla and everybody's favorite ratchet: Sexyy. When something ain't broke don't fix it. The beat and the vibes are the same as the original, and while you can't do better than the original Wipe Me Down, this is a fair attempt to try to recreate that magic.

89. STARS

Artist: Kanye West & Ty Dolla Sign
Album: VULTURES 1

STARS was an incredible lead song from a strong effort from YE and $. The beat is dramatic and gives that, "oh shit, this might be a classic"  feel to an album. While I don't believe VULTURES 1 is a classic, STARS is one of those. Ty Dolla's vocals are flawless and a reserved YE makes this song one of the repeatables for the year.

88. Thinking Less

Artist: Sinead Harnett
Album: Burn - EP

I was first put on to this amazing Brit back in 2018. Ever since I've kept my ear to her, and Thinking Less is one of those reasons why. A breakup song, which the title gives you what you need to know: she's thinking less of you. The more that she thinks about it, the less she thinks about it.

87. act iv: fckin u (18+)

Artist: 4batz
Album: u made me a st4r

It's hard to describe 4batz sound. Ultra techno/RNB/AI/IDK, but the one thing he can do is make a hit. fckin u's song title can explain what the song is all about, but it's a great job from production to set the mood with a great beat and easy tempo.

86. ACKNOWLEDGE ME

Artist: Doja Cat
Album: Scarlet 2 CLAUDE

This song made the list because of the sample. I was hooked from the first sound and Doja did a pretty good job vocally and on her flow as well. Doja's Scarlet 2 was great in 2023, and her Deluxe album provided 3 more songs, including this smash.

85. Attention

Artist: Bryson Tiller
Album: Bryson Tiller

A self titled album usually is an artist first album, but after almost 9 years after the legendary "Don't" it felt like this album was a "get back to me" rebrand. Within that, Tiller produced his best work to date, and of those songs Attention stood out as the best. Bryson's an RnB guy. On Attention you can hear the maturity, plus the hunger to be back on top.

84. Truth or Dare

Artist: Tyla
Album: TYLA

Tyla had all the momentum in the world going into 2024 after her smash Water took over the world. The next single for her came out early in the year with Truth or Dare. Tyla follows the same type of formula for this hit, using her sweet, pop, island voice to challenge her lover to a game of truth or dare.

83. Houdini

Artist: Eminem
Album: The Death of Slim Shady
The Death of Slim Shady was a nostalgic type listen, as Eminem turned the clock back to his immature days and said whatever tf he wanted to. Houdini is a remake of "Abracadabra" by the Steve Miller Band, and a mix of Without Me by Eminem. At first it felt kinda cheesy, but after that chorus came back around that second time I was all in.
82. Protector

Artist: Beyonce
Album: COWBOY CARTER

The Beyonce country album lived up to the hype for me. She was flawless vocally. She told great stories behind incredible production. Protector was dedicated to her children. As a parent, you've gotta feel what she was singing about. "Even though I know you're gonna shine on your own, I will be your projector, Protector." That's tough.
81. GLOCK

Artist: Don Toliver
Album: HARDSTONE PSYCHO

It's a different level of boldness when you sample the great Whitney Houston. Don T shows that boldness, taking Exhale and turning it into a song about a gun, nonetheless, I'm here for it. Between his rap/singy raspy voice, underlined by the sweet shoops of Whitney, GLOCK is an incredible vibe song and will flow perfectly in the car.

80. Rules feat. Bossman Dlow

Artist: Sauce Walka
Album: Saucefather 2

Dlow had an incredible 2024. His style is simple: smoke Za, Drive Fast, Get hoes. It's a simple vibe, but between him and his beat selection Dlow was bound to get a club moving. On this feature with Sauce he steals the show. Walka's flow was tough. His run below was hard.
Yee-haw, gotta wanna ride on that seesaw (ooh-wee)
Fifty pints of Quagen from my ese, well, arriba (Quagen)
Necklace Jaxson, waterfall my bitch, look like T Boz

79. LOST MY DOG

Artist: Future
Album: Mixtape Pluto

If Kendrick didn't diss Drake, Future would've been hands down the star of stars in 2024. 3 albums, all that hit number 1. LOST MY DOG is an honest telling of how Future lost a couple of his friends, the main one, his dog who overdosed on Fentanyl. The beat is somber, and you can hear the pain and reflection in his voice.

78. MY ROSE

Artist: Beyonce
Album: COWBOY CARTER

My Rose is the shortest song on the list, but this interlude is simply beautiful. Flawless singing, an easy instrumental, and just an angelic type of execution from one of the Icons of Music.

77. BODYGUARD

Artist: Beyonce
Album: COWBOY CARTER

Bodyguard feels like a leftover from the Austin Powers soundtrack with it's groovy feeling. It's got just enough of an acoustic type style to still flow with country, but to me this was an underappreciated song. Pay attention to anytime you hear a voice in a Beyonce song. She's the executive producer of all vocals on her albums. Every piece of her songs are going to be vocally flawless. She's tough.

76. SATISFACTION

Artist: SiR
Album: HEAVY

Satisfaction came out in 2022, but I didn't hear it then so it goes in 2024. SiR's new album for 2024, HEAVY, was a TDE product, which means well thought out, great production and tremendous artistry. SATISFACTION is a D'Angelo inspired type hit. The styling in his singing is emphatic. A great song.

75. PLUTOSKI

Artist: Future
Album: MIXTAPE PLUTO

I didn't want to like this one. Future has a way of just playing with us and doing and saying whatever on a song. I fought it for about 2 listens, and then I caught myself muttering out sounds in the same fashion Future does on the chorus. It's definitely an environment song, but in the right setting, this shit is incredible.

74. Parking Lot

Artist: DJ Mustard and Travis Scott
Album: Faith of a Mustard Seed

Mustard had one helluva year, producing the track heard round the world and getting the biggest DJ shoutout in history. He dropped his own album, and while it was mid-dle, he produced a couple of bangers. The Travis Scott assist comes in a major way as Travis slides down the Mustard beat effortlessly.

73. Sao Paulo

Artist: The Weeknd and Anitta
Album: Sao Paulo Single

"When I heard that Aye It was Up Nigga!" A definite insider, but from the jump on this song the energy was at a high level. The Weeknd is not a stranger to making Hispanic music and this fun, high energy song is bound to make you take a tequila shot and get lit.

72. LAST OF US

Artist: Poo Bear
Album: B2F2

Courtesy of the JBP, LAST OF US, is one of those songs you've never heard but should be an instant add. Poo Bear vocally has one of the strongest performances of the year. It's always fun to hear effort being displayed into songs, especially when it's so trendy and cool to make it sound as easy as possible. Poo Bear is singing like the rent is due. He paid it.

71. LIFE IS GOOD feat. Scribz Riley

Artist: SiR

Album: HEAVY
"Life is good, aye
Car fast AF,
ain't got pulled over 1 time while I was acting up."
SiR was all over this one from the jump and created a perfect sunny, highway drive. The vibes are immaculate. He's living his best life and chilling. Get high and chill, that's the vibe. I'm with it.

70. FLAMENCO

Artist: Beyonce
Album: COWBOY CARTER

This one hit me later than the rest of the album. Whenever I stopped to appreciate this one, it felt like a quiet anthem. The production, just like Beyonce is A Grade, and the "right about now" run from both her and the music behind her should be marked as a bright spot in her career. She makes some absolute silly high runs, flexing her falsetto with the best.

69. DON'T DESERVE

Artist: Glorilla and Muni Long
Album: GLORIOUS

From the second I heard I hated it. I caught it the second time I ran through Gloria's album, and Muni Long absolutely snapped. She has one of the best performances on a chorus all year long. She really turned this into her song. I don't too much care for Glorilla's part, not too many lyrics stand out to me. What does stand out is Muni Long and every word she sung. She was on this one.

68. Mr. Pot Scraper

Artist: Bossman Dlow
Album: Mr Beat The Road

One of his best beat selections, Mr. Pot Scraper is one of the many highlights for Dlow in 2024. The lyrics don't really stand out, but Dlow has a special flow and combo'd up with this beat you've got an absolute slap. He's still servin' dope, still getting high, still driving fast, still fuckin yo hoe.

67. Wanna be (Remix)

Artist: Glorilla, Megan thee Stallion, Cardi B
Album: Single

One of the most recognizable beats of the year, most girls shoulders start moving as soon as they hear it. Probably the biggest girl anthem for the summer, and you couldn't find 3 better rappers to bring it to the people. When you see the artist you can guess what the song is about to be full of: confident pussy, ass shaking, got money but spending yours etc. Nonetheless, it's fun af. "Go Ci, Go Ci, Go Me, Go Me."

66. 5 to 10

Artist: Don Toliver
Album: HARDSTONE PSYCHO

"I go 5 to 10 gon and lock me in, ride me like a mfn Harley." Don T was fully in his bag on 5 to 10. It says hip hop, but Don T really is a singing ass nigga: my favorite genre: singing ass niggas. He found his formula: low tempo, vibing production and easy lyrics.

65. the boy is mine (Remix)

Artist: Ariana Grande, Monica, Brandy
Album: Single

So anytime I see Monica and Brandy on the same song, I'm listening. Seeing Monica and Brandy on the same song, and it's titled the boy is mine, that's priceless. So Ariana Grande reworked the original "The Boy Is Mine" by Monica and Brandy into a more poppy record. Her elders came through with a unique twist to the original. I love how they get off tempo right before the chorus. It's a bright moment in Brandy's and Monica's career, especially in 2024, and a song I enjoyed all year.

64. We Don't Trust You

Artist: Future and Metro Boomin'
Album: We Don't Trust You

The album titled We Don't Trust You came with great hype, especially with it being rumored around a drift between Drake and Future/Metro. When Future says
You a nigga number one fan, dog
Sneak dissin', I don't understand, dog
Pillowtalkin', actin' like a fed, dog
I don't need another fake friend, dog
Can't be 'bout a ho, 'cause we sharin', dog
In your feelings, nigga, why you payin', dog?
my brain kinda went into overload mode. Like "oh, shit. They really into it." Metro's role as a producer is always critical, but since he's listed as an artist his job is even more important. The Smiling Faces Sometimes sample is historic and shows you his deep musical background.
63. Wickedest
Artist: Tems
Album: Born In The Wild

Instantly one of my favorite songs from the album on first listen. I love Tems. From her appearance, to her sound, to the vibe, allat. She fine af. She sounds like a deeper Rihanna. Anyway she steals the show when she sings:

Me and my girls on a wickedest time
Came for the wickedest whine.
I know you see and I know you want more
What you say, what you know yeah

62. No. 1 feat. Tems

Artist: Tyla
Album: TYLA

How about back to back for Tems, this time with Tyla. This songs sounds exactly what you would think these 2 could do together. An African type beat mixed over with extremely sweet melodies from 1 pop star and 1 of the best vocalists in today's music. Tems outshines Tyla, but Tyla still does a great job as well. Don't turn this one off early. Tems makes a run at the end of the song that should be dipped in gold.

61. Push Ups

Artist: Drake
Album: Single

So it's always fun to anticipate a beef, but when one of the big dogs finally steps off that porch and engages it's LIT. Push Ups was that exact moment when Drake put names on bullets and started firing that mf'n gun. The 20 v 1 line was one of the toughest, as it was one of the recurring lines to pop up throughout the beef, from other songs to people's analyzations. Outside of Future, nobody got spared, from Kendrick all the way down to Ja Morant.

60. I LUV HER

Artist: Glorilla & T-Pain
Album: GLORIOUS

Vintage performance from T-Pain. I feel like i walked in a time machine and landed in 2007. T-Pain murders this chorus like it was Bartender again. Gloria's performance is give or take, but this song places this highly for the nostalgia.

59. DRINK N DANCE

Artist: Future and Metro Boomin'
Album: WE STILL DON'T TRUST YOU

Part of the anticipation of these albums was, yes, the beef with Drake, but also allowing Future to get fully in his bag and produce classics to Metro's beats. Drink N Dance is one of those. Of course by now you should know RnB Future is my favorite version of him. DRINK N DANCE is one of those. "Right after i smash all she wanna do is fuck again, after she climax, all she wanna do is fuck again."

58. BEG FORGIVENESS feat. Chris Brown

Artist: Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign
Album: VULTURES 1

Chris Brown's voice is disguised, but if you're a fan you know who it is. For the first 2 minutes it's Chris running the show solo, singing in a serious almost chanting type tone. The beat steadies and then enters Kanye. While the lyrics aren't anything special, Ty Dolla's clean up performance is. The last 2 minutes of this song are tough.

57. Burn

Artist: Sinead Harnett
Album: Burn - EP

One of the best bone chilling voices in music. Sinead Harnett demands your attention on Burn, and she doesn't disappoint. The tone of the song is serious, feels as if she getting ready to unleash Superpowers and trust me, you don't wanna see her burn.

56. Anabelle

Artist: Shaboozey
Album: Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going

Anabelle was my first time hearing Shaboozey in 2024, and man, what a great introduction. Anabelle is a full on country song about a woman who won't be able to get over Boozey again. Boozey tells her she's not getting off the hook with this one; she's done a number on him. It's a great vocal performance from one of the artist who dominated in 2024.

55. TGIF

Artist: Glorilla
Album: GLORIOUS

Another spot on the list from Gloria, and this song absolutely ran the summer. Women everywhere chanted this one, man or not. The song is full of energy and one of the best songs on the year.

54. all of me

Artist: 21 Savage
Album: american dream

American Dream is tough. The album came out in January and truly survived the entire year. all of me is the first song on the album, and it does a great job of setting the mood and tempo of the album. "See my shooter pescatarian but he eat up all the beef."

53. Wassam Baby

Artist: Rob49 & Lil' Wayne
Album: Single

Released in January, Wassam Baby slid during the early months of 2024. A straight New Orleans vibe from two of the city's favorite children. Rob49 starts the song with great energy and hands over to Wayne who does what he does best with those Louisiana beats: Rip it TF up.
52. Saturday Mornings feat. Lil Wayne

Artist: Cordae
Album: The Crossroads

Cordae is baby J. Cole with a lisp, and is going to rap his ass off on every single song you ever listen to. He's highly intelligent mixed with a decent dose of ignorance. Like Rod Wave I got a lot on my plate. That shit made me LOL. Back to back slots for Wayne on the list, this song makes you think you're in the 2008 in the middle of Wayne's prime. Great song.

51. Risk it All

Artist: Usher & H.E.R.
Album: The Color Purple Soundtrack

Few songs from soundtracks are actually better than the movie itself, but the performance we received from Usher and H.E.R. are absolute all time. Both are tremendously talented singers, and neither get out of their pocket. They remain in control and pocketed even within their own runs. It's a lesson a lot of talented singers can learn from. You don't have to do too much, when you're talent is that good.

50. BURN

Artist: Kanye West and Ty Dolla $
Album: VULTURES 1

Throwback YE with this one. The beat sounds like it came from the College Dropout or Late Registration era, and Ty Dolla's vocals on such a soul type sample absolutely goes. Following the 2024 blueprint, the song is fairly short, something that makes you hit that left button one time to run it back.

49. n.h.i.e

Artist: 21 Savage & Doja Cat
Album: american dream

Everybody's favorite drinking game to expose people makes it's way to a song, and while 21 is a star in his own right, the song goes to another level with Doja enters the scene. The beat is catchy and works best for girl rap, and Doja kinda makes the song hers.

48. HIM ALL ALONG

Artist: Gunna
Album: Single

After the release of One of Wun, Gunna found the time to drop one more hit for 2024 in HIM ALL ALONG. It's always about production for Gunna. His sound relies on a beat that's easy to skate too, and Gunna, with the exception of Drake and Future, is the best vocal skater in the rap game. It was always one of those ones, but when Haynes posted on his IG after a big win and performance it kinda cemented, that yeah this song is good.

47. BACKSTREETS FEAT. TEEZO TOUCHDOWN

Artist: Don Toliver
Album: HARDSTONE PSYCHO

Yeah, it says Hip-Hop, but Toliver is singing his ass off on these songs. Him and Teezo doesn't seem like an automatic pairing, but their voices do a great job of bouncing off of each other on this electric beat. Teezo's chorus is one of the best of the year, and while he may not have catapulted in his singing career from a big 2023 with features, he did create another slap with Don T.

46. Fuel

Artist: Eminem and JID
Album: The Death of Slim Shady

I'm glad this song does not say featuring JID, because JID's first verse was absolutely way too good not to receive full credit for this one. His tempo switch is insane, and he's one of the few people that can say I outrapped Eminem on a song. That statement is debatable, because Em played 0 games on his verse. His word play is absolutely insane, and the way he controls the tempo and the way he speaks seems like a snare drum snapping out another fire cadence. Top notch rapping going on here.

45. Prada Dem feat. Offset

Artist: Gunna
ALbum: One of Wun

Offset's the first major artist to jump on a song with Gunna since he snitched on Young Thug, and I for one am glad he did. Prada Dem is a hit as soon as this mf comes on. Production is everything with Gunna, and from the chorus on these two were outta here. If there's a playlist for cool, this song's gotta be on it, cuz all I wanna do is put on my best clothes, get a haircut and be outside when this one drops.

44. Delusional

Artist: Chris Brown
Album: 11:11 Deluxe Edition

GOAT Brown dominated the 2023 list with the drop of 11:11, but he doubled down with a deluxe album, that added some absolute bangers. Delusional is one of them. Brown's out of this world at this point in his career. Delusional is a fun tune about a struggling relationship. Despite the subject matter, this song doesn't leave you in a terrible mood.

43. heart pt. 6

Artist: Kendrick Lamar
Album: GNX

From the opening sounds of the song, an SWV sample fills the room and you can tell that a true Heart Pt. 6 is happening. Kendrick tells the story of TDE and Black Hippy, how he cares for his brothers and how he admires them, and also what was in his mind on his way of departing them. It's a great song and CoCo steals the show when she sings
"Use your heart and not your eyes (Baby, just relax your mind)
If you got time, then I got time (Yeah, yeah)
42. Young Metro feat. The Weeknd

Artist: Future & Metro Boomin'
Album: We Don't Trust You

All 3 men involved on this song did what they do best. Metro's beat was phenomenal, Future's flow was impeccable, and The Weeknd's crooning in the background was elite.
"Evel Knievel Pluto tote his heaters, "Leave nigga in the freezer"
I'm big as a Beatle (okay, okay)
Fuck on a diva, I'm hot than a fever (woo)
Put dope in one liters, more stripes than Adidas (okay, okay)
I got these regular hoes, I got superstar hoes takin' pictures of me like the feds
Check out my video, lil' bitty silly ho
Got me with a mill' in jewelry, in the bed (okay, okay)"
I been solo, where do I begin?"

41. N o C h i l l

Artist: Partynextdoor
Album: Partynextdoor 4 (p4)

Everybody's favorite Party song from 2024 was No Chill. Almost to the point where people had "No Chill" listening to it. Between Tik Tok and the hallways of the school a lot of what I heard was
" I been with triplets, I been with twins"

40. Get It Sexyy

Artist: Sexyy Red
Album: Single

Anytime you take the "Halle Berry" beat, you pretty much got half the battle won because at least you'll have people dancing. Combo that with the highly ignorant and easily quotable lyrics of our Shakespearean, one Sexyy Red.

39. Hollon

Artist: Glorilla
Album: GLORIOUS

Lil' Gloria dominated this year. She kept a song boomin' during each season of 2024, and one of her biggest was Hollon'. The formula for her is simple as hell: Banging beat, simple lyrics, and an easy chantable chorus.
38. Horses & Hellcats

Artist: Shaboozey
Album: Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going

Boozey's got one of the best and most unique voices in music, and he wasted no time showing it off. It's definitely country music, and in 2024 that means it's gotta banging 808 and a Hip-Hop melody, with some country lyrics. Music's changed a bunch over they years and country has too. Shaboozey is the exact result of that change.

37. Etoufee

Artist: Vince Staples
Albums: Dark Times

Over the course of the last 3 years, Vince Staples has delivered some of my favorite songs. Etoufee joins the list, as it channels New Orleans energy inside of a personal memoir of Vince's career and how people have responded to him. The chorus is the standout of the show, and it turns me up every time I hear it.

36. H.Y.B.

Artist: J. Cole, Central Cee, Bas
Album: Might Delete Later

The album title should've been the forewarning to what was about to happen. Yes, I'm mad he dropped out of the beef. Yes, it made him look soft, and took him out of contention for the GOAT. Yes, H.Y.B. was one of the hardest songs of the year. Central Cee is on another planet when it comes to features. I don't know what's taking so long for him to get an album out, but in the last 2 years he's murdered every feature he's taken. The guy has a special sound and absolutely stole the show.

35. II Most Wanted

Artist: Beyonce & Miley Cyrus
Album: COWBOY CARTER

Special from the jump, these two do an incredible job harmonizing their two unique voices to make something magical happen. Miley's no stranger to duets, she is a pro's pro, so it was nothing for her to find her range alongside the Queen. Beyonce is Beyonce, and she definitely Beyonced, but not to the point where she overshadowed or overpowered Cyrus. It's an incredible song, and a true highlight from COWBOY CARTER.

34. reincarnated

Artist: Kendrick Lamar
Album: GNX

"I was head of rhythm and blues, the women fell to they feet so many to choose." From the jump you could tell why this song was title reincarnated. The 2Pac beat mixed with the 2Pac dialect and flow felt as if Pac himself walked back into the booth. Kendrick is that guy when it comes to true artistic rap, and this song is a great representation of that. Giving out history lessons, Kendrick tells the story of John Lee Hooker (the original boogie man) Billie Holiday, and a reinvented story of the devil. It's rap at it's finest, just maybe a smidget too long.

33. Came to the Party

Artist: Future & Metro Boomin
Album: WE STILL DON'T TRUST YOU

Came to the party for the photos, show off my new outfit and show off my new bitch. Simple enough huh? Damn right, and best believe it's a hit. Future reminds each year he's not your ordinary rap star. He's they guy, and whenever he steps outside, it's for your cameras and to show off the newest and latest in his collection. Vibes super tough, highly recommended.

32. DO IT feat. YG and Nipsey Hussle

Artist: Kanye West & Ty Dolla $
Album: VULTURES 1

Maybe beat of the year. This song waste 0 time jumping right into the mix and YE holds up as one of the greatest producers ever by having one of the coldest flips of Back That Azz Up ever. Ty Dolla is an absolute gem on this project and DO IT is one of his best jobs. YG gets the beat drop and his verse is worthy of it. "It's an opp in the party I'ma kill the fun."

31. It's Up

Artist: Drake, Young Thug, 21 Savage
Album: 100 GB

Unfortunately Drake's year was overshadowed by him losing the biggest rap beef in history, but that didn't keep him from releasing some slaps. It's Up is the new quintessential Drake. It starts off with a slow singy-songy deal, then "Drake turn this shit tf up!" Thug gives us one of the best choruses of the year, "ion care bout my opps!" Drake delivers A grade bars, and 21 does what he does best towards the end. Highlight for The Boy.

30. Espresso

Artist: Sabrina Carpenter
Album: Espresso

One of the best pop records put out in a very long time, Espresso is just what the title says it is, a shot of energy full of sugar and fun. Course we all love our pop records to be sweet, cute and sex driven and this one follows the formula to a T. Sabrina can sing, so even if you're not into pop, she's finding some notes and pulling those joints together to string some beautiful music.
29. A Bar Song (Tipsy)

Artist: Shaboozey
Album: Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going

Typical country from the nontypical place. Shaboozey sings about the struggles of every day life, being broke, but it's ok, we're all in this bar for one reason: GET TIPSY. The J-Kwon twist was incredible and a great use of hip-hop and infiltrating country with black culture. Boozey had a great year in 24, from being featured on COWBOY CARTER or having the number 1 song in the country longer than anyone else in 2024.
28. ALL TO MYSELF

Artist: Future, Metro Boomin' & The Weeknd
Album: WE STILL DON'T TRUST YOU

From the second I heard, "The biggest show in Paris, you're singing it the loudest," I knew this was going to be one of my favorite from this year. How do you go wrong with an Isley Brothers sample? You can't, especially if you're letting Ron rip it. The Weeknd probably went the hardest on this one, taking a shot at Drake, "They shooters making Tik Toks... I thank God that I never signed my life away."

27. Yeah Glo!

Artist: Glorilla
Album: Ehhthang Ehhthang

Glorilla's first mixtape of 2024 was a great warm up for what things were coming. She went the hardest on Yeah Glo! and me and the Longview girls soccer team had to bump it in pregame in the spring. The beat was everything, her flow was on time and aggressive, and a song that dropped at the top of the year that dominated the majority of the middle months.

26. AR feat. BigXThaPlug

Artist: MO3 & THAT MEXICAN OT
ALBUM: Legend

All 3 artists went hard on this Texas banger. The beat had that old blues feeling, mixed in with the bass that will rattle your jaw. BigX represented, THAT MEXICAN OT flipped the shit outta his letters and had a great verse, and MO3's chorus is stuff of legend. MO3 was hit or miss with me, and AR was an automatic his for me in 2024.
25. No Face

Artist: Drake
Album: 100 GIGS

This was the perfect I'm back outside record for Drake. He clearly was looking for Round 2 in his beef with Kendrick Lamar, and he came back with straight facts. "How you get hot off the nigga you hating on? Numbers untouchable they must got the data wrong!" Unfortunately, the world didn't want a round 2 because they were all happy with Drake taking the L. The original version came out with Playboi Carti, and he didn't add much to the song, so no one really missed him when Drake released the single version without him. A tough beat, and a man looking for war, unfortunately nobody wanted Round 2 but him.

24. Made For Me

Artist: Muni Long
Album: Revenge

Released in September of 2023, I missed it. It didn't really blow up until TikTok caught wave of it and exploded around December of 2023. Made For Me didn't really strike me at first, until I was driving the soccer girls to Texarkana. Bout halfway out of Atlanta, it hit and stuck. This heifer is singing. The first verse of a song is always supposed to be good, but the testament of a true song, is what kinda punch is verse 2 packing. Muni Long hit boys with the haymaker on verse 2, because it might be the best verse of the year. She submitted herself into ghetto lore with Hours and Hours in 2021, but Made For Me might've elevated her into Ghetto Queen status next to Keyshia Cole.

23. Out Of My Hands

Artist: Future and Metro Boomin'
Album: WE STILL DON'T TRUST YOU

"This lifestyle's amazing, special occasions, we smoke niggas like packs, we roll niggas like, uh, we cook niggas like crack." I can't tell you who went harder between Future and Metro, but both them boys was deep in their bag with this one. The beat constantly sings underneath Future and the two create some melodic genius style of music. One of my favorites from this album, a sleeper for sure.

22. prove it

Artist: 21 Savage & Summer Walker
Album: american dream

This is Summer Walker's song. 21's gotta great flow and couple of verses on here, but Summer Walker takes over on the chorus, and that's the voice you want to hear every time you come back to this one. "I hope these hoes don't make me have to prove it." Whoo, girl that's how you talking to me? Need it. Her lasting impression on the song maybe the best part of the whole song. "You are the love, of my life. I dedicate.... I dedicate it all to you." Yeah they went hard.

21. Nights Like This

Artist: Future and Metro Boomin'
Album: WE STILL DON'T TRUST YOU

"You don't even, walk the way that you talk to me. Actin' tough, but I know you sweet." Those two went to work again, and I hate repeating myself, but RnB Future is the best. RnB Metro is the best. When these two decide to slow it down and croon, it's a guaranteed smash in my book, just like Nights Like This.

20. Nothing On You feat. Odeal

Artist: Marie Dahlstrom
Album: Single

Look, without Odeal this song might've been Top 7. I hated his part. Marie Dahlstrom though. Sheesh. That white lady was singing. She is an incredible talent. Brought to my attention by the JBP, Marie sung to me all year long, and each time I tried to mimic every note she gave out. Her rifts at the end are nothing short of gold, and this is as good as a vocal performance you'll find this year.

19. euphoria

Artist: Kendrick Lamar
Album: Single

"ooooo she bobby she wanna way." Of course that's not what he said, but that's all you hear whenever you turn on the song. Seconds later, this creepy voice comes out of nowhere, "them superpowers getting neutralized, I can only watch in silence." Kendrick opened up a can of whoop ass on his first song of this beef. Drake killed with Push Ups, but Drake went at about 8 different people. This was the first, "no this is me vs. you buddy" and man oh man did he take it there. There's numerous of one liners and Quotables in this one. Between telling Drake he thinks he's Sexyy Red and he's in competition with them, to keying in on "The Boy" nickname, to not even raising his son, Kendrick opens up with a 23 piece combo. Lyrically his best diss, Dot was not playing.

18. U My Everything

Artist: Sexyy Red and Drake
Album: In Sexyy We Trust

Speaking of Drake and Sexyy Red, U My Everything was just that in 2024. Right in the midst of the beef, Drake didn't shy away from his new counterpart and got right in the booth and made another slam. The beat is incredible, taking the best part of Jamie Foxx's Infatuation and turning and looping into the easiest sing along beat of the year. Sexyy's lyrics aren't anything special, but her vibe and sound mixes in so well. Drake still toyed with the competition on this one. He samples BBL Drizzy in the middle of his verse, and if people weren't enjoying him being in last place, it would've made the biggest pop of the year. You could play this song anywhere and it was gonna stick. A great counter from The Boy.

17. Luv Bad Bitches
Artist: Future, Metro Boomin', Brownstone
Album: WE STILL DON'T TRUST YOU

Metro is a historian so he knows all of the great 90s RnB songs. I didn't think he had a Brownstone flip in his duffle though. "If You Love Me" is a culture classic, and to be honest I never thought about hearing it slowed down. Thanks Metro. The bass voices still hitting the same notes made Brownstone sound ever better, and behind that incredible beat it was a moment. Future is who he is. Hearing this you knew he wasn't going to mess it up. "Let's get so drunk we forget to fuck, I need an excuse to wake up next to you." The line hits so much harder when you've lived it.

16. Never Lose Me feat. SZA and Cardi B

Artist: Flo Milli
Album: Fine Ho, Stay

Thank you Flo Milli for putting SZA on a track and letting her get into her rapping bag. It gives the same energy as Kiss Me More with Doja, except this beat and this song is way tougher. SZA is the 1 on the female side of things right now, and her verse and concluding notes on this song can stamp that for anyone who doubts it. Of course, Cardi B was no slouch either. Her feature style and flow is flawless and she delivers another A+ performance in a visiting role again.

15. BIRDS OF A FEATHER

Artist: Billie Eilish
Album: HIT ME HARD AND SOFT

I'm due for one pop record a year, but Billie Eilish made me throw in 2. Man oh fucking man is this some great music here. From the instrumentation of the beat, to the way Eilish uses her voice to sing as an instrument, BIRDS OF A FEATHER is one of those songs you'll remember for a very long time. I tried to shit on it the first time I heard it, but about the 3rd time through TikTok one of those notes caught me and I said ok I'm a listen. Instantly to the Top 100 you go, and I'm really surprised to see it here at just 15.

14. CARNIAVAL feat. PLAYBOI CARTI

Artist: Kanye West, Ty Dolla $ and Rich The Kid
Album: VULTURES 1

The first number 1 song of the year was hard af. The beat and the HOOLIGANS singing behind it was just Medieval Rap greatness. Rich The Kid pops the song "Way too rich to drive a rove." I'm like damn, I can't afford a Range Rover. Anywho. This song was built to be a lead single, and it sounds like how a lead single is supposed to sound with a big dramatic fan fare, a unique and new sound with the HOOLIGANS singing. Ty Dolla shines again, like he does the entire VULTURES 1 (and 2 for that matter.)

13. dodger blue feat. feat. Wallie the Sensei, Siete7x & Roddy Ricch

Artist: Kendrick Lamar
Album: GNX

With a beat that's smoother than ever, Kendrick makes the next line dance, and if y'all don't make it too damn complicated, I'ma smoke the shit out of it. Kendrick's not the star of this show. Roddy Ricch absolutely showed ass in his small part, but it's the most memorable, and might be one of the best moments in his career.
12. on one tonight

Artist: Gunna
Album: One of Wun

If this song lasted another 30 seconds it coulda been Top 5. Man what a smash this song is. From the beat to Gunna's flow A+ everywhere on this one. Gunna's not the easiest of guys to understand whenever he's getting into a flow. This song though, I was with him word for word. He performed this one when he came to Dallas and man oh man, was I too lit when this song came on. There's some quotable lines from this one, I snatched one up for my instagram post, but the best part of the song maybe the last 10 seconds with the repetition of yeeeeaaaaaaa. The whole crowd sung with him and it was touuuugggghhhh.

11. luther

Artist: Kendrick Lamar and SZA
Album: GNX

If you sample Luther you've gotta absolutely go in, but when you're dealing with two of the greatest ever feel safe that they did. Kendrick's singing isn't going to win him best performance by any means, but he does a great job of balancing his voice next to the beauts that he does it with. This time SZA. Make no mistake, this is SZA's show. She takes over the song immediately from her first appearance. She's really a cheat code, because she's so OP. Great writer, singer and rapper, she's putting together one of the best discographies ever.

10. Get It In With Me

Artist: Bossman Dlow
Album: Mr. Beat The Road

Big ZA! The song that started it all with me. The banging beat mixed with the simple and easy repeatable lyrics made this an automatic go for everyone that heard it in 2024. Dropping at the top of the year, Big ZA had everybody chanting they were bad af in school. It took my broke ass forever to figure out he was saying Lanvin store. I coulda swore he said he left the lavish store. Either way, pair of shoes $1,250. This was the song that kicked down the door for Dlow all 2024, and he capitalized and had a strong year.

9. BAND4BAND

Artist: Central Cee & Lil' Baby
Album: Single

It's bout time Lil Baby got on something and spazzed. A slow 2023 and 24 for him, we found out why as he graduated from Harvard Business school this year. Makes since his flow was a lil washed, he was busy. He went 3 hard on BAND4BAND, but the star of the show was Central Cee. Cee's voice is so unique being from the UK so it gravitates you as soon as you hear it. BAND4BAND  was hot as soon as it was released, and mixed properly, can still make crowds move in waves all the way in December.

8. Free Fall feat. J. Cole

Artist: Tems
Album: Born In The Wild

Tems sings that she's no angel, but shit, when you hear her, are you sure you're not an angel. My goodness she was beautiful on this one. The songs temperament doesn't truly match her voice, because nothing about the way she sounds makes me want to leave her alone. J. Cole provides a good not great verse, but it flows with the song so well that you can't deny the greatness of it on the song.

7. Timeless

Artist: The Weeknd and Playboi Carti
Album: Single

This song is perfect. It has an electric beat that bodes perfectly for Playboi Carti, a great hook that's repeatable and easy to sing along to, and timeless vocals from the best pop star in music since 2011. Everything about this song is fun.
Ever since I was a kid, I been legit (jit, ooh, nah)
If I was you, I would cut up my wrist (dumb bit')
XO tatted all over her body, yeah (yeah)
She just wanna roll and I don't mind it

6. Family Matters

Artist: Drake
Album: Family Matters

The best rap song from the beef this summer was Family Matters. Drake went in on every constituent that went up against him and was barred up for a whole 7 minutes. 3 electric beat switches, 2 directed at Kendrick, the middle beat directed at the field. We already know it's a 20 v 1, we all know why you went number 1. For anybody else, this would've been the explosive nuke that ended the war. Unfortunately, for Drake his l was only beginning.

5. dark days

Artist: 21 Savage & Mariah The Scientist
Album: american dream

I loved this song from first listen. Amazing production, mixed with outstanding vocals from MTS and a deeper than usual sound and flow from 21 Savage. The song is top 5 literally before a word is uttered. The Samurai sword at the beginning gives it a unique feel. You have a real song whenever your song evokes emotion. You can feel the pain in MTS voice as she sings about her Twin being on Channel 5. There's real love, hurt, emotion in her voice. A great listen, great song.

4. one of wun

Artist: Gunna
Album: One of Wun

When Gunna has a hit, its a mf'n hit. From the initial beat drop, one of wun is one of the hardest records of his career, and definitely of this year. It's a smooth, controlled flow. He annunciates, something that doesn't always happen, and you can tell what he's saying while vibing. Great song from one of my favorites.

3. Like That

Artist: Future, Metro Boomin, Kendrick Lamar
Album: WE DON'T TRUST YOU

The greatest thing about this song is the beat. Metro cooked up an anime fight scene when he made like that. It comes on like no other, and just absolutely blares at you. The shot hear around the world. Drake said this song didn't start the beef, but truth be told, for 2024, this song started the beef. A lot of indirect sub rapping between Kendrick and Drake since 2013, but Kendrick made it real clear who he was talking to on Like That. This was Future's song on his album, but as soon as "These niggas talkin outta they necks," starts, it's a K-Dot song. When Lamar finishes his verse with, "for all your dogs getting buried, that's a K for all these 9's he gone see pet cemetery" there was a buzz that was left in your ears, and you knew you were about to enter a beef that was set to be great.
2. Not Like Us

Artist: Kendrick Lamar
Album: Single

An absolute West Coast anthem. Mustard on the beat hoe. The single greatest beef song of all time. Kendrick violates Drake from the top to the finish with corky and easy chantable lyrics. He out hit the hitmaker. Regardless if you feel like you've heard better technical skills from Kendrick, no song affected the masses the way this song affected people. You ever heard 100,000 people chant word for word a 5 minute rap song? Watch the Super Bowl lol. As a Drake fan i hate, and hated on this song every chance I can and could, but I can't deny the greatness of Not Like Us.

1. Residuals

Artist: Chris Brown
Album: 11:11 Deluxe

The older Chris Brown gets, the better he gets. While he can still cut up and have fun, his ballads have grown exponentially since the beginning of his career. Simply, Residuals is the most beautiful song of the year. The beat is beautiful, the lyrics are beautiful, the sound of CB is beautiful, this is simply just a beautiful song. Brown has been on an absolute tear, this decade alone. This song had the exact same feeling of Warm Embrace, but it feels as if it were twice as good. The most powerful instrument on Earth is the voice, and CB's sound has aged gracefully over time. Coupled with a mature pen, you get these timeless records from him, and Residuals is exactly just that.
