While probably unknown for his high school work, Kennedy caught the game winning touchdown from Johnny Manziel against Alabama for the biggest upset of the century.

At 6'2 185, LSU turned Teague into a corner, but at Carthage he was the centerfielder of the defense, tracking down 8 interceptions his senior year. His stat line reads 79 tackles, 8 interceptions, 3 for touchdowns, 9 pass break ups, four fumble recoveries, 5 blocked punts and 2 blocked field goals in 2005. Teague finished as the 65th prospect in Texas.

At 6' and anywhere from 280-320 pounds, Daylon Mack is as scary of an individual you would have to block, especially on a 3A-4A level. Used as a receiver, tight end, and linebacker, Robertson was a valuable piece on 2 state championship losing teams. In 2008 and 2009, Pete had 40 catches for 478 yards and 1 touchdown. While those numbers aren't impressive, his senior was definitely worthy. As a quarterback, Robertson led his team to the 5th round of the 5A (6a) playoffs based off his stellar quarterback play. He was All-State and All-District after throwing for 1,559 yards and 12 touchdowns and rushing for 1,159 yards and 13 touchdowns. In 2015, Pete was first team All-Big 12 after a 12 sack performance at defensive end.

An absolute stud for the Mavericks during his career, Cam Haller was the best player on Marshall's third best team of this century. Haller's main position was running back, but when starter Justin Hartt went down his junior season, he finished the season as the quarterback, leading the Mavs to the State Quarterfinals. Haller's numbers are ridiculous finishing with 4,548 yards and 68 touchdowns. His passing stats are pretty cool too. For his career he completed 64 of 114 passes for 983 yards and 12 touchdowns.

As a senior Sanders flexed his will on competition catching 34 passes for 530 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Plays over stats, McCoy is the most gifted receiver on this list. His career 1200 yards and 12 touchdowns don't scream worthy of a Top 5, but after you watch his highlight tape you can see the talent. He's one of the best jump ball catchers I've seen, and he's hell with the ball in his hands. McCoy started both at corner and Receiver for the Wildcats, and he is currently a Thorpe Semifinalist corner for the Tennessee Volunteers.

You'll very well see Kendall Wright pop up on the corners' list as well because his numbers on defense are outright filthy. Before he went onto become of Baylor's greatest wide receivers ever, Wright was the starting quarterback and cornerback for the Pittsburg Pirates. As a junior, Wright accounted for 26 total touchdowns and passed for another 850. His senior year he led the Pirates to the playoffs, capturing their first win in the playoffs in over 20 years. Linwood was named first team class 2a running back and honorable mention all state quarterback that season.

The 6'1 200 pounder was a 3 star athlete in the class of 2003 ranked 91 in the state of Texas by Rivals.com. Parks started his career out as a receiver in 2000, and was a player. He backed up Reggie McNeal at QB and ran the ball in a package, but when he got his chance to QB Lufkin he made the most out of it. Parks completed 198/366 passes as a senior for 2,677 yards and 19 touchdowns while also rushing 185 times for 703 yards and 12 touchdowns. Parks came up short of a back to back, losing in the 5th round against 5A Southlake Caroll.

You'll be seeing Aaron Ross on the cornerbacks list as well because he seemed to be a man amongst boys while in high school. As a junior, Ross carried the ball 46 times for 350 yards and 5 touchdowns, while catching 5 passes for 200 yards and 2 touchdowns, while leading the Lions to the state final. Ross's senior year numbers are difficult to track, but he had a career high 362 all-purpose yards against Katy his senior year. He had 272 total yards and 2 touchdowns against Marshall that year as well. Ross went on to win the Thorpe Award in college at Texas, and was a first round pick and Super Bowl winner with the New York Giants.

Before starring at WR at Texas Tech, Reginald Davis started his career out as a varsity running back his junior year. It was a pretty successful year for him, rushing for 1,346 yards and caught 10 passes for 194 yards. As most small schools do, Tenaha slid their best player over to Quarterback his senior year and the rest is history. On 101/169 passing, Davis threw for 2,015 yards and 26 touchdowns while still rushing for 1,915 yards on 172 carries for 35 touchdowns. In the state title game, Davis was 10/21 for 242 yards and 2 touchdowns, rushed for 226 yards and 3 touchdowns and returned a punt 80 yards for a touchdowns. At Texas Tech, Davis was a 4 year contributor and finished his career with 1,213 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns.

Rider started as an outside backer/safety as a sophomore and junior, but slid over to the offensive side of the ball as a senior and led his team to the regional final round. He was extremely physical, patient and accelerated through holes with some of the best East Texas backs we've seen. Rider rushed for 2,286 yards (8.62 YPC) and 28 touchdowns in 14 games in 2021.

Rafael Thomas is easily one of the best players in Lufkin history. But with no stats to be found, you had to be there to know it. Thomas was a 2 way monster in high school, starring at both corner and the receiver position. He started as a sophomore at receiver, and his senior year he was dominate at both. Lightening fast, (won state in the 100m Dash) great hands, (one of the top baseball prospects in the nation) and a mean streak to finish and punish receivers. With all sports and abilities into account, RT may possibly the school's best athlete of all time. As a junior and senior, Thomas filled in at QB when starter Jeremy Claybon went down in the playoffs.

Ahkari Johnson was that man at Pleasant Grove. A 2 year starter at both Safety and Quarterback, Johnson led the Hawks to 23 victories in his 2 varsity seasons. Johnson signed with the University of Arkansas and redshirted in 2024.

As a junior Willie caught 40 passes for 775 yards and 4 touchdowns while also toting 27 times for 232 yards. As a senior, Andrews ran for 1,291 yards and 15 touchdowns, while catching 13 passes for 233 yards and one touchdown. As a junior, Troup had 750 yards rushing and receiving for 11 touchdowns, while throwing for 650 yards and 13 touchdowns before breaking his arm ending his junior season. Lining up as the quarterback, Lynch rushed 72 times for 888 yards and 19 touchdowns, and went 13/17 for 289 yards and 3 touchdowns passing. As a senior, Lynch moved closer to the ball and made 68 tackles and had 2 interceptions as well. Lynch was a 5th round pick by the Vikings, and was on the Chiefs and Chargers teams in 2024.

Ke'Mon Freeman was an absolute dog for LE during his tenure. While Freeman was a starter at SMU at running back, Freeman excelled at QB for LE. As a junior, Freeman and L.E, had a slow start but finished the season strong, losing in the state quarterfinal. Freeman led the team throwing for 1,442 yards and rushing for 1,276 yards.  In his senior year Freeman threw 194/314 for 3,312 yards for 27 touchdowns. He ran the ball 225 times for 1,852 yards and 29 touchdowns. Freeman went on to SMU where he started. Freeman rushed for over 2000 yards in his career and scored 27 touchdowns in his career.

Reggie McNeal is in the Texas High School Hall of Fame. He was the #1 QB in the nation (4.35 40 time) his senior year leading Lufkin to it's only State Championship in school history. Reggie dealt out of the shotgun, something that was unforeseen in the area. That 15-1 season McNeal was the East Texas Player of the Year, throwing for  2,835 yards and 24 touchdowns while rushing for 856 yards and 10 touchdowns. McNeal spent time as a defensive back intercepting 7 passes his senior season. In the season finale, Reggie threw for 223 yards and ran for 159 more.
