The Best QBs in East Texas from the 2025 Season. This year the competition was sky high.
Legacy Players:
Kayson Brooks - 2nd year in a row as the Top QB. Brooks has a complete game, throws accurate passes, has a big arm, and the mobility to get out of bad situations. Has absolutely established himself as the best Kilgore QB since 2000, and is in my New Top 50 QBs.
Jett Surratt - 3 Years of pinpoint accuracy and dominance. Extension of the sideline on the field, Surratt could easily, effectively get his offense out of bad situations. Whether it be the scramble against PG as a sophomore, or him hoisting the crown as a junior and senior, Surratt is one of the greatest and is a sure in for my New Top 50 QBs.
Incredible Years:
Jett Taylor - The fastest at the postition, Jett was just that, a jet. He lit teams up both through the ground and the air. Starting at safety as well, Taylor's one of the best players in recent memory, and is a baller to always remember.
David Richardson - What a year. Over 4000 total yards and over 50 touchdowns from a dual threat that lifted and carried his team to the quarterfinal for the first time in a very long time. Richardson delivered in all of the big moments throughout the season, and was incredible in 2025.
On the Rise:
Colt Yancey - PG made it to the 3rd round and lost to Carthage, (again) but Colt Yancey played as good as any QB has there since Ben Harmon. Yancey threw for 40 TDS to just 5 INT, and will be looked as one of the best QBs returning back in 2026.
Johnny Hamilton - Longview had a down year going 7-5, but Tre' Hamilton was incredible. He threw for almost 2500 yards, but more impressively threw for 22 touchdowns to just 1 interception. He returns his best receivers from 2025, and physically looks like he can take over a game with his legs. Lobo Nation is expecting a huge year out of Tre'.
Youngsters:
Kipton Neighbors - Mineola may have gold on their hands in Kipton Neighbors. Though he didn't make the list, with a 92 grade, Neighbors will be one of the more anticipated players for the 2026 season. He was named all state, and that should be enough momentum to spire him to a huge 2026.
Colt Ray - Ray took Canton to relevancy for the first time in a minute, and looked like the best QB since GJ Kinne. He too, graded out as a 92 overall, and it will be very interesting to see where he goes for his junior season.
