The Best RBs in East Texas. This was a legendary year.
Legacy Players:
KJ Edwards - KJ was simply incredible. A 4 year producer for the Carthage Bulldogs, Edwards did more than just repeat as a state champion. Edwards took his name to the top of the record books for Carthage, and has threatened the Mount Rushmore of East Texas Running Backs. He has matured right in front of our eyes: from speedster on the outside, to bruiser who can finish the long run.
Tradarion Ball has been incredible all 4 years of high school. Credited to his offensive coaches, they've allowed Ball to truly be an athlete, lining up in the slot and running real routes and catching the ball. Ball's size, speed, elusiveness and toughness is a one of a kind package and you'll be hard pressed to name 5 RBs better than Tra Ball in high school.

How bout the state's all time leading rusher? Kaegan Ash ran through opponents for 15 games for a ridiculous 4,562 rushing yards and 67 touchdowns. He ran for a ridiculous 15.2 YPC. Silly. The physical back literally carried Mount Enterprise on his shoulders all season.
On the Rise:
Rayshaun might not be the best RB prospect coming back, but he's the best RB coming back for 2026. Rayshaun took over the starting role this season and rushed for 1,882 yards and 18 touchdowns in 16 games. His role should be even bigger with the talent at QB and WR graduating.
CaDarius McMiller is the best prospect returning at the RB position. His size, screams he's ready to produce at the next level right away. He looks like a big time back, reminding me of Mark Fletcher Jr. from the Miami Hurricanes.
Incredible Years:
Waters was the Offensive MVP for his district and what a year he had in 2025. Rushing for 1,403 yardsa and 18 total touchdowns, Waters zipped and dashed through defenders all season. He led Lufkin to their 10-2 and 8-4 records the past 2 seasons.
Cooper Bragg was incredible in 2025. He was the Joaquin playoff run, and his 2,146 total yards and 23 touchdowns were the main reason. He's physical, despite his size and will run through some contact. He'll be an important part in 2026 if Joaquin wants to return to state.
Jerrion Hall sat behind Tennyson and Mike Jones, but in 2025 he was the star of the show. Hall took off for 1,615 yards and 24 total touchdowns. Malakoff fell short of their 3rd straight state championship, but Hall was the number 1 catalyst for the Tigers.
Youngsters:

Javontae Giddins - At a 92 overall, Giddins was dangerously close to making the list as a freshman. He's fast and physical, runs through weak tacklers. Giddins looks to be the next great to run the ball for New Boston.
